The lower bolsters are perfect for our 7x models where there isn’t much space between the steering wheel and the seatThanks Joe. I have very similar Recaro's in my 7x, except my thigh bolsters are more aggressive. Fun to see them in first responder rigs. Love these seats!
Why not bolt the seats direct to your oem sliders on the suspension bases and get the best of both worlds ?Okay. Install pics. There's not much to show, but here it is.
How it started:
- '92 LJ78 with OEM seats and suspension bases (I'll be putting both up for sale in the classifieds if anyone's interested).
- The seat back ratchet on the driver's side stopped working, so I used that as an excuse to spend the money on new seats.
How it's going:
Removed the old seats and did some cleaning:
- Ordered 2 Recaro Expert M seats in black vinyl from 425 Motorsports (I wanted cloth, but vinyl was all they had in stock) - $1295 ea
- I got the Planted seat bases that replace the suspension mechanism (SB426dr and SB426pa) - $185 ea
- Everything arrived the next day

It's a good idea to test fit the new seat bases so you know which is right and left and which side is front.

Recaro's instructions for attaching the sliders to the seat are adequate. I recommend attaching the adjustment bale to both sliders first before bolting the sliders to the seat.

When attaching the seat base, be sure to run the sliders back and forth a couple of times before tightening up the bolts. Otherwise it might bind due to misalignment.

Then they're ready to bolt in!

The whole operation took about 2 hours, including numerous social media breaks.
Verdict (so far): Still getting used to them. I had the height adjustment of the old seats locked at the highest setting just to keep my legs from pressing up against the dashboard. The height of the new seats is a little lower than I'm used to, but the slider moves the seat back farther so my legs are more comfortable. The steering wheel feels farther away, but I can get used to that. Best of all, no more deep vein thrombosis on long trips!

Not bolt on but with the suspension seat bases you can just make a simple diy adapterI don't know about recaros but the scheel-mann seat mounting points are wider and require some kind of fabrication to mount on OEM sliders w/ suspension bases. Are recaros direct bolt on?
I still use the suspension base but use Bride bracket w/ scheel-mann provided sliders to make the scheel-mann seats work on my HZJ77.
