Quote from article"
"Getting that part of the road repaired and open for off-road travel this summer is "a very optimistic timeline," a USFS ranger told the Telluride Times last week."
I would say the fed layoffs/hiring freeze has something to do with this as well. Definitely here say, but I’ve talked to a couple USFS folks that say they would be surprised if any trial maintenance gets done at all this year and that their budget is currently $0.

YES!! *while digging out all the ridiculous mustard-colored clothing I own for SAS* Is it too early to pack?!
Never to early to start packing 😜

Imagine choosing this outcome.

As people who come together every year in Ouray for the love of getting into areas that are largely public land, it seems pertinent to our interests to see how this develops. To me anyway, ignoring it seems like willingly putting cotton in your own ears.

(Yes I understand the roads are owned by the county. Yes the USFS probably has a hand in maintaining them since the roads serve USFS land. I would argue that we don’t want to go on an off-road adventure with a view of Walmart and McDonald’s, I think we much prefer the views and vistas of public lands.)

No one saying to ignore the road closures
Just don’t turn it into a political Discussion/debate
I think I can say this is supposed to be a happy place for all of us. Let’s not change that.
If it does I’m out

@Broski I didn’t mention politics in my comment so I’m not sure if you meant to reply to someone else or what.

I really wanna run Imogene this year, as I’m sure a bunch of people do. Would be a shame if it wasn’t open in time.

Our first year at SAS

Didn’t intend for my comment to creat such a stir.
Just four words. A philosophical question really.

Not meant to be the other “P” word at all. Guess folks are just itchy.

I’d be the first one there with a shovel when any of you are stuck.

Can we leave it at that and move on?

I'll chime in here. I don't care what anyone's race, religion or politics are.
I do care how our family accepts all who attend and is willing to help those in need.
This is the 9th year for SAS and the only thing so far that has tried to roadblock us was covid. We respected the protocols and had an amazing year. Roadclosures can be expected but it's not going to limit access to an amazing part of the country.
I'm excited to see you knuckleheads again in August. It'll be here before you know it.

You can still run Imogene . You just have to enter ans exit from the Ouray side. They had a big slide on bird camp road few weeks back some more rocks camp down in the single lane section . I'm sure that will be open before the snow melts. Imogene on the telluride side Not so sure about that being open next year . Seems the whole road is damaged and has to be re made.

To the USFS issue . They ran out of money mid last year. Our local LC club does recovery assist for the people cutting x mas trees. They had to cut all USFS staff from that due to no funding. I am kind of all for this audit per-say. All the fees we pay to use public land needs to be accounted for and managed properly . No matter what political party does it.

You going to put a little air scoop in the hood or at least some louvers?
I dig it!
I don't like the aesthetic of hood scoops. I put a bigger turbocharger on it and turned up the fuel. It is capable of making more heat now. We'll see what temps say, I'll stick a couple thermocouples on it and watch in/out temps. I may do some ductwork from the bottom or side or an 8" fan.

Is that you’re 40 Klaus? You gonna bring the fam damily to SAS is that!? Can’t really tell what’s under all the turbo/cooling duct work and the Tupperware 😆
It's been to SAS twice before, but we trailered it. It's got a Cummins B3.3 aka Komatsu 4D95 turbo diesel.
