Time for a quarterly update.
It's only 10 days to GSMTR so before I blow up the few mods I've done I the last few months I figured it was a good time to update.
Bought a wireless winch controller from HB for $20 and had to modify it to work. I cut the plug off the 2' long cord and hard wired and mounted the base to the winch controller box. Despite it having 5 prongs there's only 4 wires, Green/White(12V+), Black (Ground), Brown (Out) and Blue (In). I wired it all up with the Black and G/W hardwired to power inside the solenoid box on top of the winch and tested it, worked great. Mod done--right?! sorry no pics.
Buttoned it all up and figure it's a cool $20 mod. Went wheeling at Chocco in March and boat ramp denied me so I thought a great chance to try out the Wireless controller...FAIL, nothing, didn't work

. Out came the old hand controller and winched up boat ramp.
Got home and tested, still didn't work despite several attempts. Getting power all the way through the fuse and onto the circuit board but still doesn't work. Only thing I can figure is that either I burned it out with constant voltage when it's designed to be plugged in used for short periods of time or it just blows and I got my @20 worth. Either way it's a dead duck.
Also as a result of the last Chocco ride I got flat on my front drivers tire while winching John up an rock ledge. Turns out a handful of the the beedlock bots were working themselves loose and simply didn't supply enough clamping to seal the tire, truly a rookie mistake not checking these. Anyway, since I had to pull apart and reseat one tire figured I might as well do 'em all so out came the portable impact and rattle cans.
pulled all rings off, wire wheeled the old paint off and applied a new coat of RTV to the inner bead.
Reassembled with all new hardware and a new color. Filled to 20lbs air just to check for leaking and a week later they're still holding 20 lbs- sweet
