Pics or it didn't happen! Haha

Have you always had a trailer just nothing to tow with?

up till now neither, trailer will happen within next couple of months. Between trying to sell 2 vehicles and buy this one I'm so sick of Craigslist I could puke, just amazes me some of the crap that goes on.

didn't get home till after dark so pics will wait till tomorrow.

I've got an extra car trailer if you want to borrow or buy it. Its smaller than a normal one so may be good for your short wheelbase.

thanks!! it's a quad cab so I guess if you consider 140" wheel base short it'll do the trick nicely.

I meant your yota's short wheelbase. This trailer is probly 14'ish.

Ah, that would be a little different. In that case ill allow you to park it at my house for a while.

I wish I had a way to get it to you before the next ride. I could maybe bring it with me though. It has no lights currently and its got MH axles. But its in the back yard with crap piled on it not being used.

Not worth the effort but appreciate the offer, I'll have it resolved in due time. I have the hard part done so now it's just a matter of gettin er dun.

You can use my trailer sometimes if needed. It's just sitting in dad's back yard but I think it needs 2 new tires.

certainly a good idea and I've contemplated it several times. I guess the only reason (not a good one really) is that the helmet makes my head another inch+ taller/wider and more prone to hit the bars and this would annoy me to no end. The A pillar above the window is already padded but it wouldn't hurt to add some padding above the windshield as well.

I've been considering an exo for awhile, it's superior for many reasons over the internal cage but I just can't get over the bird cage look. I guess if done well and kept nice and tight to the body I could get over the cosmetics especially since it's a trailer queen now.

Maybe a summer project...

Just go out there and smash your mini into some rocks/trees. You'll forget all about cosmetics after that. :hillbilly:

Also, I'm assuming you sold one of your other vehicles to buy that Hemi and the other to pay for the gas?? :flipoff2:

Yeah, yeah, I like the body panels just the way they are so :flipoff2:.

sold 1 of 2, the mini is still on CL waiting for a new home.

Time for a quarterly update.

It's only 10 days to GSMTR so before I blow up the few mods I've done I the last few months I figured it was a good time to update.

Bought a wireless winch controller from HB for $20 and had to modify it to work. I cut the plug off the 2' long cord and hard wired and mounted the base to the winch controller box. Despite it having 5 prongs there's only 4 wires, Green/White(12V+), Black (Ground), Brown (Out) and Blue (In). I wired it all up with the Black and G/W hardwired to power inside the solenoid box on top of the winch and tested it, worked great. Mod done--right?! sorry no pics.

Buttoned it all up and figure it's a cool $20 mod. Went wheeling at Chocco in March and boat ramp denied me so I thought a great chance to try out the Wireless controller...FAIL, nothing, didn't work :bang:. Out came the old hand controller and winched up boat ramp.

Got home and tested, still didn't work despite several attempts. Getting power all the way through the fuse and onto the circuit board but still doesn't work. Only thing I can figure is that either I burned it out with constant voltage when it's designed to be plugged in used for short periods of time or it just blows and I got my @20 worth. Either way it's a dead duck.

Also as a result of the last Chocco ride I got flat on my front drivers tire while winching John up an rock ledge. Turns out a handful of the the beedlock bots were working themselves loose and simply didn't supply enough clamping to seal the tire, truly a rookie mistake not checking these. Anyway, since I had to pull apart and reseat one tire figured I might as well do 'em all so out came the portable impact and rattle cans.

pulled all rings off, wire wheeled the old paint off and applied a new coat of RTV to the inner bead.

Reassembled with all new hardware and a new color. Filled to 20lbs air just to check for leaking and a week later they're still holding 20 lbs- sweet

So continuing on...

I've been having an ongoing problem with knuckle studs working loose to the point of destroying trunion bearings. There are several ways to address this but I chose the 5th stud mod mainly because it's fairly easy and very cheap. time will tell if it works.

5th stud installed. One thing I did learn is that if you do not get the stud in very close alignment both horizontally and vertically with the other 4 studs you will not get the arm on or off. Obvious I know but the tolerances are very tight so take your time if you're doing this mod.

Steering arm all painted up.

Lastly, probably the best mod since my SAS is the addition of my trailer. I've been pilfering trailers from a coupe friends since October but one finally landed in my lap a few weeks ago--Thanks Josh

$1150 got me the trailer, a spare tire, 4 straps, 4 axles straps, a truck tool box and a chain dog. Not a bad deal at all.

And finally as it sits now. Hopefully it comes back from Windrock looking something very similar to this

That sucks about the remote. Gonna fiddle with it later to see if you can revive it?

Amazing that the tires held 20psi for a week; that is remarkable. I shoulda laid a tiny bit of silicone on the top lip cause mine still have some tiny leaks.
I like the green a little better than the grey, but not too fond of that shade; looks kinda like primer. Did you consider OD green?

On the knuckle mod: Mine doesn't actually have a "5th stud"; mine is actually a bolt. So I don't have any issues with alignment like the extra stud creates. Too late now of course, but if it becomes an issue, not too hard to just remove the stud and replace with a bolt and washers.
