Man, Josh is getting nailed in this thread. No love.
Nah. Sid, my original comment was going to be "Josh, you have a club that misses your truck and a truck that misses you; get your @ss back here and wheel!". But after Josh decided to try to brag about his locale, I had to retort. Lots of love here - you just have to wade through a little BS to see it. :)

why break one or two when you can get 'em all

That looks like an Alabama Diff....some teeth are there and some teeth arent :hillbilly::hillbilly::hillbilly:

Certainly looks like a new set of gears to me. :flipoff2:

Looks familiar been there and done it.

Look on the bright side Ted, at least it happened BEFORE you got to GSMTR.

no doubt.

New gears ordered! "should" be here Friday! Thought about 3 day air but was $61 freight and didn't really get me anything so x-ing fingers.

the trick now is getting them installed and broken-in (hate to use that word in this subject) before GSMTR...

True story!! It would have really sucked to have that happen on your first day of wheeling up there. I will give you one thing: when you broke it, you didn't do it half-heartedly. You destroyed it!

thanks! One tooth or all of em, what's the difference? I try not to do things half-arsed!

there will be a spare diff going to GSMTR with me, probably won't be 5.29 but at least I won't have to move the front to the back if the worst happens.

Are you driving it there? I think I'm going to bring my spare also. I'm trailering mine tho so as long as I can get it back on the trailer I'm good.

That's right Ted - go big or go home, right? :p
Besides, I think I'd rather have catastrophic failure like that rather than a little click or a little slip here and there making you say to yourself "was that the locker working; was that the locker not working, was that the pinion breaking a tooth, was that the ring gear breaking a tooth, was the ring gear coming loose, is something going to break when I'm at The Cove this weekend???". Just prefer to have stuff die ASAP if it's gonna do it at all. That way you know what's wrong with 100% certainty and can skip all the guesswork and go straight to the fixing. :wrench:  Then get back to :steer: hopefully followed by a little :beer:

But maybe that's just me? ;)

Those 8" diffs sure are cute.

I broke a pinion in Harlan half way through the first day, and had no spare. I always cary a spare now. Even w 9-3/4" cruiser diffs.

ok-so now it's a scheduled Monday delivery--not tryin to bitch but just sayin'... wtf? 5 days from Cali usually means Friday right,? was gettin my hopes up to have fixed on Saturday but not gonna happen.

did the SR5 gauge cluster mod today, pulled the donor from a 1990 4-Runner at pull a Part for $25. install was pretty easy, remove the dash panels and remove the old cluster then replace with the new one...Plug and play.

If you opt for this mod make sure you get a compatible cluster, some have the cable speedo and others have an electronic speedo.

Now have Oil pressure, battery, and a tach which are not on the basic instrument panels.

yeah, I noodled it, pondered it, thought about it, even groped it a little. Then...decided I just didn't care.

Did you use this while you did all that?
