I don’t know which Bob you are referring to, but Bob (@devo) and I have become good friends. He is likely going to become your friend, too.
Bob is just a super good dude. Just like almost everyone there is on the spectrum of super good to some degree. Unless they’re a chick. Then they’re a super good chick. But Bob’s extra super good.

This Is more for the "Newbs" and first timers but I guess every one can contribute. But I just confirmed it with @POTATO LAUNCHER to be on next weeks " Classic Land Cruisers Podcast" on Monday night. But don't get your hopes up on listening to it Monday chances are it will be out on Tuesday evening. What are somethings you want to know to get ready for SAS 10? I know that for me being a first timer as I have already stated in this thread there is a huge mix of emotions. You guys and ladies that have already been know what to kind of expect. But with me I am scared, anxious, nervous, excited, and looking forward to it all in one. My goal for this episode Is to try to get everyone in attendance as close to equal footing as possible. That way we can all just be excited for the second week of August.
Alright, you’ve been told to relax and everything will be fine, and I didn’t believe it either last year, but it sure was and then some!

So try this on for size…no expectations. Seriously, I think this helps a lot. Just come ready to help where you can and ready to be helped when you need, and open to whatever happens happens, and it’s all good.
Because, somehow, it is.

Also, Just refer to everyone you meet, man/woman/whatever, as Karl.

@Mesa Woman don't tell anyone, but @Ditcherman thought I was someone named "Karl" when we first met.

Folks you don’t have to talk to me!
Please talk to Mike S about getting one of my “I Love Bob” T shirts and then I will feel your feeling!

Lots of peeps love Bob!

Here’s our first picture when we met Bob and his lovely bride Sally in 2019, 7 yrs ago yesterday(!!) as he wanted to follow us to Death Valley for a 3 week blissful adventure.

Funny thing is they were strangers about to follow us to the very remote desert and I DID google them and did NOT find them on convicts.com but found a lovely article about them retiring from nursing in the Denver area… phew! They are absolutely cool kids!

Gotta love Bob @devo!

We really need a chit-chat section!!

Ok how about I phrase it this way What were some questions that you had before your first time to SAS that were answered after you got there. I am thinking of questions to ask so that there isn't dead air on the podcast and I would love to have it be an hour long. I realize that the event itself is super chill and relaxed But I am doing a podcast that I hope a couple of you still listen to on a regular basis. As for me I am not as worried as I used to be but since I am a first timer I thought that there might be other first timers with some questions that they would like answered. I am giving the first timers perspective on the event.

@Mesa Woman LOVE this!

I met Bob in far less thrilling circumstances.

Bob is super fun to talk to, maybe we should change it to: Don't Pet Bob

What are good/practical trail spares to bring?
What happens if I have a catastrophic failure on a trail?
What are the most important systems to have in top shape?
How does altitude affect a carbed vehicle and what can be done about it?
How long can I pet Bob until I am too high to speak English anymore?

Thats a good question! I’ll give it some thought as it’s fresh on my mind, but I guess the fist thing is don’t be so ‘outgoing’ that you randomly walk up to people because you think you remember their rig and call them by the wrong name.
Especially when their trailer is broken on stony pass and they’re sweating to get it fixed.

Plus don't you guys work on Fridays? Geeze I asked for the question suggestions the first time on page 24 just this morning and now we are almost 3 pages later 😜

My first year I was super nervous going in as a wife to a cruiserhead… I’m now just as much a cruiserhead as @mesaman!

Seriously, our first question was Who’s POTATOLAUNCHER, no first name just a MUD handle! Lol then went into the trails and where and when.

Main thing, and I’ll share more is where is registration when I arrive at KOA. What time are things happening and where should I be, what should I bring on the trails. What are some trail etiquettes that might be different in CO vs the state I’m from, where do I sign up for trails, who are the trail leaders, when do we get to eat? Lol. What do I need to do to my rig before I leave, should I really do a shake don run BEFORE heading to SAS, will my kids be entertained while I drool over cool Toyotas, will my partner one be entertained while I drool over cool Toyotas, what does KOA supply, where are gas stations, can I share a camp spot, when is raffle night, when is group photo, when is trivia night, when can we just sit around and chit chat, do I have to go on a run everyday… there are lots of questions and this is why we try to be relaxed and enjoy our vacation. As we get closer following this tread and looking for my big bright yellow posts will hold info or look for other directors and their post. Who are the directors… they are listed on post 1 or 2 on this thread. Follow if you want to stay in the loop and yes you have to read/skim through a lot of chit-chat.

There will be reminders at camp.

I try to avoid work 😉 Talking about things that stressed me out the last few years is getting the 2f to run at high altitude. Eliminating that worry for ‘26 😎

To be fair, it wasn't my trailer that was broken, it was the bits that got bashed off of it from all the torso sized boulders I was stress testing my welds on.
And to continue being fair, my 40 actually looks a lot like Karl's did before his million dollar make over but since we were in my 62, I think the mushrooms were probably kicking in.
