Yes, it's his daughter. She's probably done more miles in an FJ40 than many on this thread. 🤣

That is impressive! I am way behind at 260k miles logged. I owe that to a 15 year pause. One of my bucket list items is to log 1million miles in the 40 series.

UPDATE: July 30 at 4PM - Imogene Pass is OPEN (on both sides). Engineer Pass remains CLOSED on the Ouray side due to flooding and rockfall.

Please check with our neighboring counties for updates on their roads.

I myself am a newbie. I didn't know about vintage LandCruisers and all the cool stuff they can do until Casey and I met. Now I want one. Like the post said, more than many not all. 🤪

We put in 600 miles today holding up for the night.
Pull into a RV spot instead of our usual camp ground because it’s still 100* out
It was hot out all day

right after I took this picture it went to 116*
Not as bad as a few years back when we saw 118*

Safe travels everyone see you all soon 😍

So, what course of action would be best for someone that would normally use 550 to get from the Utah/Colorado border to Ouray?

Spotted @thatcabledude making his way through MS for SAS #10!! Sick rig, my girls loved the "special car seat" for your ice chest 🤣

What are the odds of us randomly merging together perfectly like that?! Pretty wild!

My daughter hollered, “that has SAS stickers on it”, I saw Texas plates, and I immediately recognized the truck.

Depends on which road from the CO/UT border you’re taking. Ouray is accessible on 550 from the north (Montrose side), so if you’re crossing the border on UT-46/CO-90 near Paradox you’re good. Just proceed to 550 and go south. It’s closed between Silverton & Ouray. If you’re coming from the south, like on 491 near Dove Creek, you can probably take CO-145 through Rico and over Lizard Head Pass. Hang a left at the roundabout just outside Telluride to stay on 145. Once you get all the way down the hill to the stop sign ( a solid 30 minutes), hang a right on CO-62 towards the Dallas Divide & Ridgway. That’ll put you on 550 north of Ouray.

well 2 of the 3 trails that i wanted to do are closed down. so what is a couple good ones (not Yankee boy) to do since Imogene are engineer are closed

Knitty Gritty and myself are ready and super excited for our first SAS! Knitty, prior to my ownership spent most of her early years registered in Durango and Telluride, a long stent sitting in someone’s field and now redemption as a once again trustworthy steed in the San Juan’s! Safe travels everyone.

US40, east out of Vernal. 40 to 64 to 139 to 50 and then 550.

Feel free to join us on Monday to run Kite Lake. You can’t go wrong with the available options. Just a drive along 550 will be amazing assuming they get it open.
