here is a pic of what the designer of the doubler i am user did for his set up.

Its in a Geo tracker so the space that he is working with is similar to what i am working with.

I like that the automatic shifter, doubler/adapter shifter and dana 300 twin stick is all in one place. the auto shifter i am less concerned with being in the same group, but i think a triple shifter set up would be nice.

cables are 100 psi i think. he said he used much thicker cable than what normal shifters use.

How was the trip to Pat's?

Awesome!

Not only did I get measurements off his bad ass rig and joels ultra 4 rig I learned a lot about closed in trailers, slide in / GN combos and I was only there an hour!

Talked with dad about the 56 chevy pickup with a 429 cobra jet. His dads a trip, he doesn't baby his rides he actually gets out and uses em the way there supposed to ;)

After talking about different styles and different "rules" to follow,
I asked pat about what he thought was the most important thing to consider when building a 4 link and he said it's vertical separation. The space between the upper and lower links is crucial it seems.

We were discussing 4 link calculators and he said you can get it perfect on paper, which is fine, but a different story when you are building .

If I was building from scratch I can see the value, but I am confined to my frame and mount locations. Comes down to what you can do with what yo have.

Parts are in gonna shut up now and get down to it.

the 4-link calc will get you very close. fc uses it on all his builds and i bet he's done more link suspensions than most people. i'm certainly no expert in this field but i trust what don says. if he's not sure or it ain't worth saying, then he does'nt say anything at all. and on top of allthat he's not just a gifted fabricator but sharper than most people out there.......

not saying that your buddy does'nt know anything about 4-links. but i trust don explicitely.

if you have all the measurements off a "known" well working setup, then by all means run with it. that's time saved and a sure-fire way of getting it right. smart move if you ask me.

I still will probably put in 4 link to tweak and get an idea. But if I can't get the exact numbers then I won't sweat it.

I find it will be useful to get a rough anti squat number.

Talkin with pat and absorbin info from different sites and builders has just given me some confidence it what I will do.

I thought my heims came in today.

It was just bend tech pro....:bounce:

well, if his setup is working and you dig it then there's no reason to re-invent the wheel. does he have some sort of access panel that covers all the cables and linkage? looks like something where a passenger could really cut up their foot/leg in a hurry.

georg

there is either a panel that goes over it or the passenger seat will.

gpt a little work done tonight
Hey i think i found some really light links...........PVC!

don't worry i am just using them for mock up

Uppers 24.5 ( no Heims) lowers 42 with Heims .
Vertical separation is a perfect 9.5 inches : )
Link angles are like 30 degrees : (
Chassis lower mount heim separation 5 inches

pretty pleased how it came out for the first shot, anyway.

rear lower link axle mount is 3 inches from end of inside of axles. its set at around 51 degrees.

here are some pics

There is NOTHING wrong with the amount of triangulation you have there. That looks great. I bet it will perform nicely.

Good job! Easy as a fuel cell.....

I am thinking of tying in the chassis mount for the lower contol arms to the skid plate.

I have been seeing thinner and thinner skid plates as of late.

May go as thin as 3/16. Have seen 1/8 ... I think that is thin.

What about using that cutting board UHW (?) stuff.?

Where do you get that stuff ? Is there a local source?
