It looks great with the windshield back on, just in time for colder weather. Will you stick with the black wheels or paint them? I think white would look really nice.
I know I like the factory white too. I just worry with the black top I already have and the black assessories attached it might look goofy. Planning on painting the rockers the turquoise too. Although I did proper paint prep and pulled the rockers down to the metal before paint I decided to paint a bed liner on the rockers to avoid more body work and for rock guard aspect. I think when I mix the paint for the doors I am working on now I will spray the rock guard with the torq color.

took these this morning on my stop checking the surf before work.

An update: I did 4 coats of high build primer on the passenger samurai door last weekend and block sanded it yesterday. I added a little spot filler for a couple of pin holes and a few spots where I welded stuff up. I should be able to do a final block sand and paint with color when I get back in town on Sunday. It looks pretty good. It wont be perfect because some of the parts are a little too far gone in terms of rust. I just need a set of doors if I want to run it in the winter time. I am on the look out for a new set.

I got a few things done this weekend. I got my soft top windshield channel on. I am hoping to be able to put a bikini top on it in the summer time. I also finally painted the rockers to match the rest of the car. i think It looks a lot better. and finally with lots of work I painted the passenger door. it turned out pretty good. like I said previously it will never be perfect. it had a lot of pin holes in the upper portion. seems to be structually good though. still planning on finding new doors eventually.

Stoked I finally added my oem style bumper to the sammy. I did for fun stick my extra fj40 pumper on to see how it looks as well. Kinda didnt mind it. I still have a few things that I need to do to the suzuki bumper. I cut the sides off to clear the tires. thats ok though because the sides had parts to attach trim that I did not have. additionally I really like the color of the fj40 bumper. I have some satin nickel paint left over from my fj40 project that I think Ill use.

the other thing I got done was installing the windshield wiper motor. although I could not get it to work. worked fine when I took it out. I need to do some research as I think there is a ground that can go bad that is associated with the wiper motor.

I also put together a crib this weekend with my wife! the baby is about 2 months away!

I took this shot this morning before leaving the house. shot this with the fuji x100vi at max iso 12800. I love this camera I just got... it actually seems to be filmic in the grain structure. (I am a camera nerd too) Too cold to run topless now! I gotta start working on getting the doors and top on there!

That’s really nice for that high of an ISO. Crop sensor too, yeah?

yeah it is an apsc sensor. This camera is as good as they say it is. I wish I had gotten one sooner. I was using the in camera Acros preset with a digital yellow filter too and it looks like that film pushed for sure. Especially when you look at the grass and leafs. Honestly I like it better than my leica m10 monochrom so much so I sold it yesterday!

I’m thinking of getting the CFA removed on my D850 to convert it. It’s a great camera, just don’t know if it’s worth $1,500+ to do so.

That would be cool! I have always thought about getting a d850. they are fantastic and one of the last great DSLR cameras. I have a df that I really love. I often use my old non ai stuff on it. just works with no fuss and no adapters. Its the most backwards and forward capable f mount camera they made. I dont think i want to move to the nikkor z mount stuff because the lenses are huge compared to the F mount equivalents.

I should have said partly sold it to free up cash to buy some parts for this sammy. but also because I just never really meshed with the m10m.

My work bodies are the Z9.
Easily the best camera Nikon ever made.
Previously it was the D6 and I said the same about that one.
Although I really miss optical view finders.

My first camera that I begged for and wanted out of high school that was a film camera was the Nikon f5. I remember seeing it in Jurassic park and thinking it was soo cool! I still use it time to time. I actually took the f5 to Maine a couple of years ago and got some great shots with it. Back then they were still lots of money for a film camera. a few years ago I picked up a d3 to see if it holds up. While the resolution is of a nearly 20 year old digital, it is really fun and quick. I often wonder if the D6 would be a cool one to pick up now that they are so cheep. I really like an optical viewfinder over an evf. I just dont like looking at the evf kinda gives me a headache. I know this is a build thread but somtimes I just like to nerd out on photography!

Some crunchy odd ball film but I love this shot! after a big winter storm. I hiked down a cliff to get the shot.

Loved the F5 but my first camera was an FE2. I’m now on my 3rd one (one stolen, on bad shutter) in close to 40 years. Great camera, very robust.

I like the Dutch on the shot above, it lends to the chaos.

This one was shot with my latest FE2. A fellow photographer at SAS shot it for me.

Yeah it was a crazy winter storm in April! there is a telephone pole down in the mid ground too that I found walking around. (Not to be confused with the old anchor). I am sure with live wires as this was earlier in the day before people were up and about. I am sure that shack flooded too. We were looking at houses to move there and this storm happened and my wife was like NOPE. It snowed, rained, blew 50mph, and was 80 degrees and sunny all in the span of 4 days haha. Id still love to move there! not to sound like a privileged white lady, its my special place. same week below snowing.

I have an fe2 that has kinda a cool story. shortened version: A tourist I met had it one I was 10 or 11 and let me use it. then many years later that tourist daughter worked at my families surfshop in my collage years. The daughter and I are still good friends. fast forward another 10 years the father passed away and the daughter gifted me the same FE2. I still have it. I bust it out every once in a while.

My first good film camera was a f100 that I eventually sold for a FM2. I liked the lack of reliance of batteries and still do.

Thats a great family shot! I am hoping to get lots of those in the coming years.

Shot these this morning! bumper is pointed a little up and there is a big panel gap above the bumper because of the way the shackle reversal was done. I cant fix the panel gap above because of that . I think I can trim a little more off the bottom to make it more level though. overall though looks better! and its amazing how much difference painting the rockers makes.
