Got a few things done this weekend. I got my passenger door test fitted and mostly back together. I also made some quick door hinges out of the original ones. I started welding up the drivers door and I got it primed yesterday. I should be able to shoot it with paint today. we shall see.

Looks great! Is this your daily now? I saw the Isuzu went gooey kablooey...
The isuzu will be fixed soon. I am going work on getting it done during my week off for thanksgiving. I just need to replace the oil pan gasket and vent the oil pan. then I think its mostly done and I can drive it again. I want to finish the samurai enough to daily it some this winter though. I have been daily driving my fj55 land cruiser more or less. We just used it to take cardboard to the dump.

I got my drivers door outside done. the inside I will paint this afternoon. It turned out pretty good. I also installed the soft top bow. Unfortunately I will need to replace the bow part because it was more crunchy than I though. I am hoping it can wait. Pretty much everything that the top attached to was shot when I got this thing.

I am also planning on replacing all the weather stripping on both doors soon. I am also thinking about new door panels and handles, locks. they all work but are in rough shape.

I bit the bullet and purchased the last 4 parts I need to put the soft top back on. winter is here I am going to need it. door rail (bought passenger and driver) , targa bar with center, and the weather stripping for under the targa bar. I feel like I got a fair price for new parts at 330 with shipping! and the fact that that my targa bar is shot and the door rails are too rusty to paint and reuse. I got these from Suzuki Home - Suzuki Parts USA - https://suzukipartsusa.com/ whom I for sure recommend as I have purchased several of my body parts and other parts from.

Really looking great. You are going to have to come to Charleston and help me with welding up holes and replacing some panels on mine.

Everytime I weld body panels I feel like I get better at it. I just need to stop melting clothing when I weld stuff. Burnt a hole in one of my favorite jackets this time...

Having doors is a luxury! Pretty soon the top will be on. says the targa bar will thursday but It will be here by Friday for sure! Some things I will do when that comes in: sand the door hinges and paint them, Sand the targa bar and door parts and paint them! then I have a few things to clean up and it should be good to go in the rain! Ohhh and I need to figure out the wipers and why they dont work...

Seeing this picture makes me think more on the 30 vrs 31 tires... I think I am going to go with 30s that I listed before. Might have to be a xmas gift though.

For 40$ each it was a no brainer to just buy new ones.

good news everything is installed! I have a few cosmetic stuff I will do like new door cards and some interior trim and what not. I have one snap button I need to install on the tub and the little targa plastic things will need to be installed too. I also will put all new seat belts in it soon too.

All the screws I used are stainless and I used a bunch of anti-seize. Last thing I wanted was difficult to remove hardware. drivers door needs adjusting for sure.

The top is a rampage soft top. It came free with the samurai and its new. I also have the top that was on it too! pretty flipping awesome to have a top.

Looks great mang.

I have had Craigslist alerts forever for the right Samurai.

I have got to get tires that fit in this wheel well better.... I have never driven it when it was raining or muddy and it flings mud and water everywhere.... also maxes out at 45mph so smaller is the way I am going. Kinda thinking about undoing the SOA lift and putting a leaf spring lift under it. I know its a crap ton of work though.

Daily driver status! I have my land cruiser torn down at the moment so I have moved this up to daily driving! its been great. I changed the oil for the first time since I originally did it back in April. didnt take much I think 4.5 or 5 quarts. Its been really reliable and it has AC and heat! now I just gotta change out those hideous wheels and tires.

Alrighty guys, I bought tires and rims. finally. with all this rain its been super annoying driving the samurai with this massivly off set wheels. it flings water and mud everwhere! I bought 30x9.5 15s and a 15x7 wheel from summit off road. Vision Wheel 85H5785NS Vision HD 85 Soft 8 Series Black Wheels | Summit Racing - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vsw-85h5785ns. these are the tires: Leao Lion Sport MT 30X9.50R15 104Q C 6 Ply m/t mud Light Truck Tire - Walmart.com - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Leao-Lion-Sport-MT-LT-30X9-50R15-Load-C-6-Ply-M-T-Mud-Tire/837394491

Ill post pictures when I get them all mounted up and installed.

I have been daily driving the suzuki and really hate the tires that are on it. these should be better! I am a little worried with how much lift is on it. Hopfully It does not look goofy. the tires that are on it are 31x10.50. with a huge off set. they stick out almost 7 inches I think from the body. these new ones are off set less and I have seen suzuki jimny people use these tires too!

side note I really want this RC car haha

Well I got two of my 4 tires ordered in the mail this morning. Luckly the fedex contractor that brings stuff to the island said the rims (from summit racing) and the other two tires were at his pick up location when he got off the island. SO they will be here tomorrow. I am very excited about these. They look fantastic! its a 30x9.50 15. Decided on mud terrains because they always look bigger than they are. I hope the rims and tires together look good when I get them mounted. I am going black letter out.

IMG_5729.webp

The tread reminds me a little of the old bfg mud terrains. I had a set of those on my tacoma way back when!
IMG_5727.webp

cant really get a good idea of stance without them mounted but I had to try.

Ill be so glad to get these general grabbers off!

Well classic luck for me. I had a cranking and NO start issue this morning when I was trying to get to work. not sure what the issue is but I think its slowly been getting worse. I m guessing its either an issue with the + battery connecter as its loose on there and seems worn out. either that or a bad earth somewhere. its getting fuel and its cranking. I was not able to confirm spark by myself this morning but I am am guessing NO spark. this after noon I am going to replace the positive battery cable, one of the connectors that goes to the positive I think its a fusible link it might also power the coil from there too. Then I am going to check spark at the coil, then at the plugs. If that does not find it I will check all the grounds (there are many). It rained a s*** ton last week and I wonder if something got wet. this thing has a computer too that I am not sure wht it actually controls. but I will check the connections there too.

I am at a loss with my no spark issue: I confirmed No spark at the plugs, I confirmed I have 12V at the + of the coil. (need to check the ohms of the coil), I changed the fusable link wire out, and changed the battery positive out. I am going to check the ignition module in the dizzy next tomorrow when its light outside. I have checked all the grounds too. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know I probably wont get any responses here but some advise on where to look would be great.

Other bad news: the auto shop here cant mount the tires because their air compressor has an issue. so I cant get them mounted up. They look good though.

Sorry for your no spark issues... you need a diesel. No spark, no problem, sort of.

How long until the compressor is back up at the tire shop? I could come down/or meet you at the ferry and get them done in Buxton. What's your desired time frame? Happy to help, if it's help.

Fun surf up here yesterday:
