I'm pretty sure I still have mine, I'll look for it next time I'm back at my folks'. I cut out most of my rear tub, it was just too far gone. If I find it, its all yours.
Dude Ill take it if you you are getting rid of it. I almost did what you did with the rear tub on mine. it was close.

Nothing really to note on the samurai update wise. The windshield is still not done although they said the glass is ready. I have my wife calling every day at this point. Mostly because I am too nice on the phone. They said it should go in today and they got the new ground down glass but I have doubts.

We took the samurai to the beach! it was such a nice day for Mid October! that was fun. packed it in like a clown car.

Dang, still waiting on the glass? At least the weather looks nice. How's the island doing since the storm?

The no windshield on the sand reminds me of the Long Range Desert Group from WWII. It's a real cool look. I cant wait to get a kit.

No glass.... we called today and they said they would try and get it done today and said they had the glass ground down at least. We are going to call them again tomorrow and then the next day and the next and so on till it gets done. I have never had such a bad experience with this sort of thing... Other than Vintageteqparts. Ohh yeah the island is fine. Ferrys are back to normal and we are getting mail service too. Yeah its pretty fun to drive around like that. It wont be great when it gets cold. I will probably drive my fj55 land cruiser when its colder though. My little white truck is being stubborn and IDK if I will get it going anytime soon.

Not my first rodeo driving windshield down though! I loved my old fj40 for it.

Updates good and bad: Eastern Auto Glass called and they called and said it was done!!!! thats great. a windshield will be nice. Still very much not happy with them though. My mother in law will pick it up tomorrow. More later on that. They have not even given me a price which makes me nervous.

Bad news: my wife and I took it to the beach this afternoon and I started noticing that it was pulling to the passenger side. Turns out my caliper seized on that side.... WOMP WOMP WOMP... Well the good news Is I know thats really easy to change out on these samurais. I just went ahead and bought some new calipers on rockauto. The soft lines seem to be newer so i didnt buy them. Lets hope I dont pull the caliper off and the soft lines are the issue. Ill check by using the bleeder tomorrow.

I thought about buying these calipers FRONT BRAKE CALIPER SET / PADS INCLUDED (OEM) - SAMURAI '85-'95 - Suzuki Parts USA - https://suzukipartsusa.com/shop/qty-2-front-brake-calipers-w-brake-pads-lh-rh-suzuki-samurai-86-95-atlga/ they claim they are oem but they are maruti oem and I hear the quality control on some of the maruti suzuki parts are not as good.

Dug through the bin and found the cover- I'm glad I held on to it! I'll DM you about getting it to you. There's some rust where it screws to the bottom, but otherwise this might be the cleanest panel to come off my Sami.

Now, looking at the wheel wells I cut in half (but kept) I wonder if it was worth cutting it all out. We'll see!

Alright more good news My mother in-law is in possession of the samurai windshield frame and glass! she said it looked good. I am just glad its not there any more. My wife has an appointment off Ocracoke on the 29th and she is going to pick it up then. I cant wait to get this on. Ill be sure to post pictures. I also need to install the wiper motor and wipers.

Some things coming up: I am going to buy a new targa bar for the samurai soon, that way I can put a soft top on it when I need to, new wheels and tires sooner or later. I did confirm from my friend that I bought it from that these wheels and tires were put on in 2013. I am going to try and maybe sandblast part of one of the doors to see if they are savable.

I really want to buy a header for my little 1.3L I found these after watching a youtube video and it is cheep. Header. It would give it a little pep in its step. and honestly the paint color I did this thing in it would be cool to see a chrome header in the engine bay! I kinda want to lean into more of a hot roddy look for this thing.

I did decide on these rims Vision Wheel 85H5785NS Vision HD 85 Soft 8 Series Black Wheels | Summit Racing - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/vsw-85h5785ns They look like factory ones except more off set but not as much that is on there now though. I think I might respray them in white like factory samurai wheels. I have not decided if I want to do 30x9.5015 tires or 31x10.50 15s. yet. I really want to pull the Tcase and regear it for better beach driving. The TCase was not regeard for the 31s and it is sluggish in 4hi on the beach. and really feels a little sluggish in 4 low. I am thinking just 4:16:1 or 4.90:1 gears because I am not rock crawling and I don't want to put bigger tires under it. This is the kit I am thinking about : Samurai Transfer Case: Suzuki Samurai Gear Kits - https://rocky-road.com/shop/samurai-transfer-case-gears/?srsltid=AfmBOopowbJPwNHJK14t74Sk6YYRcnoDTsEyqIvH_7-FZOt2qlWwqZzV
What do you all think about the gear ratios? I do want this to be more of a daily. it must go at least 55mph.

Thanks for linking that header, I need to completely replace my exhaust as well, it was chopped shortly after the header and mine's pretty badly rusted. I might go with that one too.

Unfortunately I'm no help with the gearing, but that's something I want to learn more about. I think I have the 4.90:1 in mine, but I'd have to dig through the PO's notebooks. I'm also on 34's and Toyota axles for what its worth

What motor do you have in yours again? 1.6 right? that header will work with that one too I think. Yeah that header is cheep for what it is too. I want to order it soonish. I need to replace my exhaust gasket there anyway. its not leaking but the little parts to fit around the plug wires have corroded off the gasket and it looks bad and bothers me.

I have the Tracker 16V, which that header wouldn't fit now that I read more.
ohhh gotcha. yeah I thought it said tracker but now I am seeing 8v on there. I think it would be worth emailing them to see.

After looking through the book of receipts etc from PO's, turns out I'm using 5.29 gears
That makes sense with the tire size on yours. So I got your part in the mail yesterday! showed up quick. I think my plan is to cut that tab off thats crusty and just weld a new one on. Probably going to spot sand blast the spots that have bare metal and then epoxy primer and bed line black like I have done the wheel wells. Thanks man!

I received my rock auto calipers yesterday and I am going to show my automotive club students how to replace calipers. I might buy rebuild kits for the old ones so I have spares. I think I saw stupid cheep prices for the rebuild kits. I just didnt want to risk the calipers being too corroded to rebuild so I bought remans. I got both sides. Eventually maybe this winter Ill redo the drums as well.

A little stressed because it looks like my visors are missing. I hope my bump stops and hinges are still there. but at least my wife has it and the glass looks to be installed. the gasket in the upper corner (closest to the bottom right of the picture looks a little suspect. hope its fine there). I cant want to install my windshield frame though. will report back when my wife comes home from an appointment and I can see it in person.

Mostly good news about the windshield install. I think they did Ok but not fantastic. The glass they used is fine. they never tried to get the one I provided in it looks like. I have not opened the box to see. They also broke a captive nut out where the visor was installed.... annoying but I can fix it with a nutzert. To be honest those captive nuts have all been bad and not very sturdy. It looks the part now though and having glass is very nice! because of the windshield being done I decided to start cranking on the other paint work. I started the passenger door yesterday. sand blasted and sanded out the bad rust. I had to weld a few spots. I also welded up the holes were the mirrors were since I have those mounted to the cowl. I got it primed and will fill some low spots and sand when it stops raining.

the two worst spots are the bottom of the door and the top left corner in the picture. that left corner I am just going to try and smooth out and just rock the pin holes. I have already decided that I will find another set of doors when I can because the ones I have are a little too far gone. upside is the glass, and mechanical are pretty good still. I am planning on running without the doors in the summer anyway. But I think when I am done they will look decent enough to use while in search of used ones.
IMG_5099.webp

Yeah this top corner was eat up.
IMG_5094.webp

Used my spot sander on the goofy areas. I did also take the hinges off. I will strip those and repaint them as well. I think I am going to cut them and make them quick release.

I did do some carb tuning! I got it running at base timing, 800rm aprox, and 23lb of vac! That weber 32/36 is running really good! I also put a new AC belt although it worked and no longer squeals when i turn it on, the belt is adjusted all the way out and I feel I need a slightly smaller belt. I cant complain I bought the belt off rock autos clearance and it was like 2 dollars!
