Since there was so many comments on the seats I thought I would post up how easy it can be to get odd seats into your rig...

Here is how I mounted mine to the factory sliding rails.

Heated seats in a 40...I would never put the hard-top back on :D

thanks for the warn link.
very nice rig,
manny

As time went on, a few more things were done to the inside to make it a better DD, some of the big mods were:

Saab 93 leather Seats
A 6000rpm Tachometer
Interior Indoor Outdoor Carpet.
...and adjusting all the doors to get the rattles out! :D

Here are a few pics of the seats, which btw, are one of the best mods ever done to this rig! The pretty much bolted in after creating a strip of 1/4" steel to connect them to the factory rails. One afternoon working and they were in... I now have side curtain airbags! :D

Two things I would different with the seats.

1. Buy the convertible seats, they have a lever that allows them to tumble forward to access the rear area.
2. I would have bought seats with the seat heaters in them for those cool nights with the top off.

DIG the seats. would love to have those. no need for heaters here in SoCal. Just last week I took in my stock seats to a local upholstery guy and had back lumbar put in, more cushion in a$$ area, and added holes for the headrests I FINALLY scored + just general spring and bolt tightening. So, I kept stock seats as I like the look of older seats in an older rig... but if I were to go not stock, those are the best seats I have seen in a rig yet. even the headrests are cool.

Bringing this back from the depths. I am debating making this my version 2.0 thread as well. Should I start a build thread or continue this one. It is time for rust repair and updates.

You are right around the corner from me. I am in Lafayette, lets get together and swap stories.

I replaced my old broken rubber duck antenna today with a Firestik AM/FM Antenna and side mount. The reception is AMAZING and the whole unit is rock solid, I may add a spring but time will tell if I start hitting it a bunch on trees and stuff. Pretty simple stuff drill out the new holes, bolt it up and screw in the new antenna.

Here is the hole layout and the gaping hole I am trying to cover, which the gasket did... sweet :bounce:

Sometimes you get a discount for the Amazon Prime products, can anyone tell why this one was a little cheaper? HA!

3' it is noticeably thinner than the 4' Firestik CB antenna. It also has no need for the tune-able tip. But it is the same high quality that you'd expect from Firestik.

Here is the part number and info if you care to know.

And the finished result. Easy as pie maybe a 1/2  job at most.

Boom goes the dynamite!

I needed to address my rear CB and HAM antenna mounts as well so I jumped on them this week too. I had a nice welded mount on my tire carrier but it had a 1/2" slot vs a 1/2" hole and that caused the antenna to come loose every few days or so of travel... VERY annoying. Once I figured this out I fabbed up two 3/16" mounting tabs with the appropriate 1/2" hole so I can crank down the stud and not have it come loose. I ordered up a fresh Firestik as my Wilson was looking beat and frayed. I am also mounting up a flexible Comet SB-1 HAM antenna for dual band in the 2m and 70cm ranges.

Cut off the old welded on the new.

I'll get a few finished shots of the antennas when I get them wired up. I touched up the paint and left a nickle sized spot on the underside of each mount bare steel so I can get a good ground when I mount the antennas up. I still need to ground my swing arm to the chassis.

It should look something like this when I am done.

I like the antennae. Can you tell me the model number for the side mount? looking on Ebay and can't find if it will work or not...
