Ok so i think somewhere i said something about thinking my caster was on the low side... well if not ive been thinking my caster was on the low side by a couple of degrees as i didnt make sure the truck was level when i did the cut and turn

so i took some time today away from the deadliest catch marathon to enjoy the beautiful 70*F day outside to confirm my suspicion. Unfortunately for me I was correct, but it was much further off than i thought.

when i set the caster i set it for 5* positive (but the truck was not level mind you) and how here are the results. I set the toe with a tape measure and was suprised to see how close it was, for the street time it sees im not to worried about the litle bit of tire wear it will create but i will still likely adjust it in 1 turn and that should put it within spec, meaning not dead on 0.0* like i like but acceptable total. the caster is far enough out that im not even going to waste my time on shims and will re level the truck and cut and re turn the knuckles again to fix it. I guess thats what i get for rushing it, I know i dont drive it on the street much but i like to be able to if i want to as that is the 1 requirement i have kept for this truck.

I also have a picture of what the stock specs should be on a stock truck for comparison.

Guess one day coming up ill get to go out and fix my mistake:bang:

take the shackles( put stocks on) off and put 2 or 3 deg shims you'll be fine

I dont want to sacrifice flex for road manners, Id rather just go back and re cut and turn the housing. also even if i went to a stock length shackle i dont think it would be more than a degree of caster change probally less so to be able to avoid shims, keep my flex, and still be streetable i will just fix my mistake.

It was my fault, so whatever i guess.

Those are 2.5 in lifts shackles so it should be about 2.5 deg for caster it's about 1 in for 1 deg :D

I hit the s*** out of my little shackles so I couldn't run those flex or no flex ;)

they are anti inversion and have held up to some serious beatings so far, also after i adjust the shackle angle they will be a little more out of the way, which is the idea.

been over a month since i last posted on this thread...

well i have a small update, i still have done nothing about my caster mostly cause im not driving it and i dont feel like pulling the front end apart again yet.

but i do have some good news.

I located and secured a 1F bell housing for my 465-203-split case drivetrain that i will be putting together. I also found me a 4x4 SM465 well 2 of them really, and a couple of 2wd 465's as well. but boss man has to many non paying customers so i only got a third of my check and even that was a day late needless to say he still owes me 500 bones and i was supposed to be paid thursday.. hopefully monday he has some coin for me cause i got freaking bills!

anyhow i wont have my bellhousing for over a month as it is coming from arizona and mud / buddy shipped down so the lack of the 465 and my 203 and the needed adapters is no big deal. maybe if i can find a SM420 for the right price ill go that route for even lower gearing due to the lower first gear.

I was gonna finish my 2F-E on this check as well but with the only partial check... hopefully the next one will get it where it needs to be to run so i can drop it in the truck and get rid of all these engines i have around here.

so the 2FE and sm465203spitcase convertion donr yet :p

I dont even be havin my bell housin yet. it be still in that arizonian thingy place over yonder. that there 2F-E thing-a-ma-bob be gettin real close bein done needin to be gettin er back home so as to be pullin her old dyin heart out and get that thur new used frankenstein thingy runnin again so we can see how it likes them big rock thingys.

Took a couple of shots on the way home from work today since i drove the 60. I tried to climb the rock like this on the other side with my BJ42 but being open front and rear it didnt happen and was IMOP pathetic. The 60 just dropve up and over no problem, barely even touched the slider when i came back down the other side. ITs like a cute little garden pebble to Fiona.
