Nice looking truck. Way better shape than either of mine. Looking at the picture that shows your front driveshaft, it looks to be extended about the same as mine. When I picked up front end of my truck by the bumper the driveshaft almost came apart. I suggest you try it, you might be suprised. Flexing isn't a problem because when one wheel goes down the other goes up (relative to the frame) and the slipjoint doesn't move much. With a SR the axle moves forward when it moves away from the frame, so the front driveshaft usually has to lengthened. Try not to get any front end air until you check it out.
Great lookin 40... reminds me of my buddy's high school ride. I'm gonna go kick his ass and make him get it out of storage.
How do you like the scout power steering? I think the 55 I'm building is gonna get it... why the T-100 lower column? Some sort of advantage to it? Does it work on a saginaw box (scout II), or did you just have one laying around? Did you use stock u-joints/rag-joints, or something else? Looks cool anyways.

Home made. Having fun with a welder, some 1/4" plate, and the brain. Al
Tell me about that aux gas tank filler? Did you put that in and if so, did you buy it or make it? Looks like a decent setup.
On my '79 the aux tank fuel filler is in approximately the same position but on the other side. It fills with no problem. Do you have a filler vent hose installed so the air can get back to the top of the filler neck when the fuel is going into the tank? When I went back to look at your pic of the filler I noticed that your anti-inversion shackle is upside down. The 3rd bolt (the one that doesn't go through a bushing) should be on the top front. This bolt will hit the frame if the shackle is forced too far forward and prevent it from inverting when it is on top, the way it is on your vehicle it won't do anything.
Yea, this thing came with alot of Conn-Fer goodies, among others. I think it was mostly setup like it is LONG ago. Hell, my winch has something about Jeep Corp on it, hard to say how old it is, or even what model. Its not the " perfect " Cruiser, but its mine . AlI have the same tank i bought it from AERO Enterprises in Corona Ca,. in 1999 for 395 shipping included i have the same issues with the fill up process but have found if i put the nozzle in up side down it seems to work better plus i am using a radiator hose one of those universal hoses since know fuel really sits in the hose any way i change the hose every 5 years or so , tank was 288 skid plate welded to tank was 69 shipping was 38 , probaly want 500 now or more
