Great to see some cruiser time. What are the engine plans (mods, seals, etc.) and what color you going to paint it?

Orange, Black covers, gray accessories... pretty traditional chevy colors.

Plans for the motor are in the air. The downfall of these big block is low compression ratio which is about 8:1 which is not optimal for propane which I intend to run. Leaving it how it is and adding a xe268, performer intake and adding headers put it in the low 400 hp range and 500ish torque. I'm not exactly convinced of this with the compression ratio that low. I think it could end up being a dog... better than the 350 but a dog for a 454. Now, if I bump the the compression with some domed pistons to about 10:1 to 11:1 and increase the timing to get some of the BTU value back I could easily get into the upper 400s to 500hp and 530 torque range.

The problem there is feeding it enough propane at that point. I think I am going to call cary at gotpropane and see what he has to say. Honestly, I'm not interested into getting into the motor past the intake and cams.... and I dont really THAT much power... but I havent ruled it out either. :)

too late... I just called Cary at Gotpropane.com Hell of a dude. I ordered the kit. He said the 8:1 would just fine. He said "run it.... if want more just bump the compression down the road". I like that idea since the block was rebuilt not too long ago. If I want crazy power later-- it'll be available.

two 33 or 43 pound forklift tanks. Should last about the weekend according to Cary. Really depends on my foot.

bunch of weight and space in tanks and propane ..

You should back light those with neon to strobe with your stereo. :bounce:

Seriously now those do look pretty neat and that will be great to see the level. So do you run off of one tank and then switch to the other or do you run off of both tanks at the same time?

You can plumb it either way but I am going to separate it so I have a warning when I inevitably go through the first one. If I end up with theses tanks I think I will put a simple led light or two to help illuminate them. I also got a BBq tank adapter for emergencies. Cary also told me some cool tricks you do with it too. Ill save that for the trail though.
