Rolled my first car..... Now what?

I would think if you are really just taking the old body off of this one and putting the "new" body on wiring and engine differences are irrelevant

Such a great assumption there.
We all know what assuming does. For anyone wondering there was a big ass log in the road I swerved to miss, right side dipped in the ditch and up I went. Seems like the best idea is a donor vehicle to swap my drivetrain and parts into.

As a father, that is my biggest fear. Glad you are ok.

Keep your eye out. There are frequently 80s available for pretty cheap that aren't running.

Not sure where you live but I'd look for one from out west/southwest. No rust.

^^^ This is what I did when I rolled my 80 in 2015. After looking into a body swap and listening to the voice of experience here and elsewhere this was the obvious choice. Now, if you have a gantry large enough to hoist the body off maybe a body swap is a more reasonable option. But keep in mind wiring differences such as but not limited to obd1 vs obd2.

Wrong. Or more specifically, if the engine stays with the frame and you just swap bodies.. year/subgeneration is hugely relevant.

There are huge differences even between OBDI and OBDII 1FZ-FE rigs in terms of the interface between engine/chassis/dash. I know. I made the mistake of putting an OBDII body/dash onto an OBDI engine/frame/front clip and it was a GIGANTIC pain in the ass.. and not to brag, but frankly the wiring work was way beyond what the vast majority of people on this board are capable of.

A lot is involved with swapping the body but it'd be a good project!

Not really, I have done one, you just need to keep track of what goes where, I have done this and it is not that bad, but looking at your rig, you are probably better off finding another one, and take what you want off the old one. BTW don't text and drive

Yes they are year specific, and tons of things have changed in the wiring, I forgot to add that

its a 97 LX located in central GA. best thing would be to bring your truck here on a trailer and then we swap the bodies at my place. mine is gutted from a part out so you would want to gut yours first. would be a good time to take care of a whole pile of "while you are in there" work heh.

The pesky heater hose is very easy to get to with the body off... just saying
