Why are you in this build thread with your ass negative opinion? You obviously don’t spend time in the 40-series section or the hardcore section here on mud because that is where you can see it. Facebook seems more your style. “LOL”.

The Hypertherm makes quick work of that. Clean it up tomorrow with a grinder.

The shackle hangers, the funky JDM suspension system had steel bushings in these.

Thread 'Leaf Sliders'

Saw this on a build on pirate and it caught my eye, partially because I'd never seen it before and partially because it seems to be the perfect solution to running the moving end of the spring forward of the front axle. It keeps the leading edge of the spring nice and high to prevent rock impact while retaining the advantages of keeping the fixed end forward.

Has anyone ever used something like this on a cruiser build on this forum?
How does the angle of the track affect the spring rate?

Ian, i'll admit, when you said your going to use slider boxes i thought to my self "what, i thought those faded away 20 some years ago" shows you how long ive been out of the hardcore scene.

next thing they'll bring back 1/4 elipse,,,,,,, or is that still alive and well too?

Well just because something is old school certainly doesn’t mean it isn’t good. I know you are not saying that I am just making a point.

I have never seen or done the sliders. However I have read up on them a lot and they seem to perform well.

I certainly could have done an 80-series suspension swap (the old PZJ70 I had got 80-series up front) or done links and coil overs but that is just not what I wanted to do with this Cruiser. I have built some really awesome leaf spring suspensions over the years and my plan here is for this one to be the best I have ever built.

they work well, back when we started doing them it was nothing more that a piece of channel and the spring eye simple rode in it,,, not captured, nothing, just a slider. we were chasing max articulation, with max clearance of course and some interesting ideas came out of that in the early days when the sport was still a garage hobby. some of them were not very good, like the first sliders we were letting the axle fall away from the chassis largely uncontrolled, great for droop at crawling speeds, dangerous everywhere else.

i remember when someone came up with the captured bolt and delrin, genius!! there was also a version with a pair of bearings instead of delrin, and you know its a good design cause what you bought looks completely unchanged from that first captured slider i remember.

This is basically just an initial test fit, see if I like it and all that. I need to get some ubolts which should not be an issue tomorrow. It is also not centered or anything like that.

Haha, I just put a tape measure on it for the first time since getting the axle under the Cruiser.

It is a 1/16th from centered!
