Finally got started again on my piggy

Well, my buddy and I got some stuff done on the front 3-link finally. We made the trailing arms and some plate work on the front where it mounts to the axle. We're using 2 Uniballs on both side to keep the pinion angle during articulation. We've mocked up some brackets on the axle to see how it will look. I'm pretty stocked right about now. More to come!!!!:):hmm:

Looks great, I love the history and the build. Are the links going to be soft mounted on the axle like old school ford radius arms? If not, how are you going to keep the axle from acting like a giant torsion bar durring articulation? I can't wait to see the finished product. I've been thinking about linking out my 55, but I was going to do a wristed 3 link in the front and a dual triangulated rear. Right now I'm still trying to get things right after the SOA.

Those uniballs pivot so that I should have around 13" of travel or so. My buddy helping with the build builds desert trucks and has some pretty good knowledge of suspensions. We're trying to make something different that works well. It's similar to a Land Rover front end, but with more travel. Thanks for the good comments.

Wondering the same thing??? Looks great, awesome fab work for sure!

As one side drops the angle of the trailing arm to the axle plane needs to change, and with soild uni-balls I cant see how it will work without twisting the housing.

This will be very similar to the 80 series front ends. They have bushings and I'm using Uni-balls in front and large Heims at the frame. Should have some articulation. We'll mock up both side and cycle the suspension and see what we get. See the pic of the Slee links.

The concern I have is based on the fact that articulation is going to require some bushing give for the radius arms to work, and there isnt any in the uni-balls, but the rubber bushings allow lateral twist and some radial give to allow for travel. A relaxed FJ80 front end is surprisingly stiff even with the rubber bushings...

Give me some more time por favor. I'm getting closer to having the frame ready. Work has once again commenced on the project, and I'm trying to build momentum with the:princess:
I'll even deliver it to you Tim when I'm done:D

it's yours Tim.........
