Those arms are really for mock up for reference. We'll be making them boxed out of 4130 plate when we get to that point....

Since steel's your business and buddy's got skills, I hate to question, but you think the arms would be sufficient in the rocks?

Bet your buddy could clean house building arms to correct driveline angle and cut and turned housings for the 80 crew,

Awesome.

That's what I'd discussed with a builder some time back, an effort to save weight, bulk, obvious inherent strength to boxing, versus the alternatives.

Appeared viable, the big concern being a street driven, 6000lb station wagon (80) it's on.

Always enamored with the skills inherent to true fabricators.

Edited:

Pic was unintended. Deleted on app, but still showed.

Apologies.

that's how slees first arms were and they weren't sufficient...hence the big bastards he now sells.

Finally getting the ball rolling again. Putting motor/trans/transfer in now. Going a different route with the front end. Not enough compression at full bump in the front with the pan hard. Going with 4 link up front. Will post pics soon..,did a 1" body lift for trans clearance....

You know you are going to do some crazy link up in the rear as well. :p Maybe like that suburban? I don't think that would be crazy talk.
I want a ride in that thing when its done!:D

This rig is awesome!

You going to be running some crazy bump stops like Teraflex/King makes?

Well, we're thinking about loosing the inner fender completely and fabbing front bib sopprts /front fender mounts. And any other stuff that needs to be mounted up will have brackets fabbed.....lots of travel...

WOW! That is some impressive building going on. Wish I knew more about the engineering of your type of suspension, to comment other than great pictures!

Keep going, can't wait to see it in paint.

Hello, I am Marco from Italy and I am restoring a fj55.

I need a measure: the 2 support of the front bench; someone can give me the exact measure, metric size please.

Sorrry for my english, I hope you have understood what I need

Congrats! you may want to start your own build thread in this forum...this thread is pretty well taken up with this particular build- and has been for years!. I can take a measurement from my 1977 fj55 and send you a private message later...

Landcruisnman, you keep changin your mind on the front suspension discipline, and I'm gunna beat you to the coils! what did you do with all those beautiful radius arm parts? not enough articulation for you? I'm fixin to do 80 series stock front suspension on my pig...your build was quite the inspiration for this. Jealous and drooling...keep it up!

Starting to mock up the rear 4-link. Trying to set the lowers outside the frame and the uppers inside. Gotta nice bend to at ride height it'll be just about parallel with the ground. Once we get the uppers in we'll see how it cycles. Should clear the frame. Running a 60 series Full Floater.......stay tuned.

Single triangulated 4-link in the back? Running a panhard?

Why the bend in the lower, for rock clearance?
