I usually get Goodyear 3/8" by 50' on sale they are under $20.

Yea, thats what lasted 5 hours, so I am not going that direction again :(

I would try and get Northern to replace it. I have several black 3/8 Goodyear hoses bought from Harbor Freight that have no issues. Even the crappy hose on the HF hosereel is still working fine after close to 4 years.

I can't recommend the steel bodied quick disconnects from HF though. They don't seal very well at all.

I used a FlexZilla hose at a friends house a few months ago, that stuff is awesome. He says it stays super flexible even in really cold weather. I'm gonna put a reel in the ceiling of my garage next Spring, I'll be going with that stuff.

We have one of their garden hoses in the greenhouse, man that hose is nice and flexy.

I've got a 3/8 Goodyear I've had for 5 years and beat the hell out of. It still rocks.

1/2 for anything you need real power for.

Stay with rubber. Vinyl and PVC get brittle with the cold. I hate those.

Same here. Other than replacing all the quick connects with Milton, I've had no problems. The HF quick connects leaked from the get-go and as they started vomiting the ball bearings on the female ends, I just went through and replaced all of them.
