Bill Lee formerly Bills Toy Shop is incredible. Unfortunately he moved to Silver City New Mexico (only 2.5 hours). He specializes in LC's and is a ASE/Toyota master mechanic. His number is 505 534 3400. I know most of his Land Cruiser clients in Tucson still make the trek to see him....truly the most honest and competent mechanic I have ever met......no association.
I just heard that Bill has moved from Silver City up to Farmington.

German Excellence in Orlando isn't a "cruiser" shop but they know their s***.

Dons Bumper to Bumper in Carmi Illinois is rebuilding my front end and painting my 76 FJ40. He does excellent work. He is the kind of mechanic that will spend hours diagnosing an electrical problem down to the loose pin in a connector. I dont know very many mechanics that do that most say come back when it quits all together.

AutoTech, Jose, on Guayas between Unidad Nacional & Pichincha in Cuenca, Ecuador is fluent in Land Cruisers, Jeeps, Land Rovers and early Broncos.

Hi all, I am looking for a mechanic near the Torrance area of Southern California to do a pre purchase inspection on a FJ62. Seems like everyone is either busy or too far from Torrance. Does anyone have any other recommendations that have no been listed? Or maybe even a very knowledge cruiser head near by?

Thanks!

Try ZP Auto on Montrose Ave. I used to go to them when I lived in Brooklyn. Elaine is the owner, Gus is the head mechanic. They're a little weird but great people, I miss going to them.

In Philadelphia, Rafael Ocampo of Ron's Auto is great. 215-463-5632. Found him recently and has been sent here from the landcruiser gods, I think.

@Kian I take mine to Manners Motors in Queens for basic stuff. You will do all the talking with Cindy. She doesn't have much personality, but they are straight forward and very reasonably priced. Someone who just bought a 62 told me that the PO always took it to El Diferente Auto in Gowanus. It seems like they have experience with older vehicles. My rig is at Manners right now. If they can't figure out my intermittent starting gremlins, I might take it there or to the place on Montrose. Also, Harry's in Williamsburg has good reviews and they work on older vehicles. Let me know what you find. Good luck!

NYC folks, after years of seeking the right mechanic for my FJ60, I believe I found someone good. Urban Classics (Urban Classics Auto Repair - Car Repair, Auto Shop). They just replaced my alternator and power steering pump. They're not LC specialists, but the shop is full of older, well loved machines. They sourced Toyota parts, did flawless work, checked out the truck for other trouble, and even called two weeks later to follow up and make sure I was happy with the work.

only on ask in this whole thread for Las Vegas and that was years ago. Any change? Anyone know of a good cruiser shop in Las Vegas?

Hey Guys, Looking for a shop in Northern California. We just purchased a 1988 FJ62 with the intention of doing the GM 5.3 conversion as soon the current motor starts having too many problems or won't smog. I would like to start working with someone now so we can have enough money set aside. I would also like to work with someone who is experienced at doing this. Cruiser is a two owner vehicle and all original other than rear bumper, stereo and antenna. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
