Selling my rebuilt 12h-t long block assembly. oil pan to valve cover as pictured. Located in Huntsville, Alabama. Custom steel crate built for the engine so I can ship it as required. I purchased this engine to replace a blown up 12ht I had in my 60 series. This engine was started and ran when I purchased it. I have a video of a cold start of the engine prior to rebuild but don't know how to upload videos. Being particular about my work I decided to go through it prior to installation which turned into a full overhaul. Midway through the rebuild I purchased two new old stock 12ht long block assemblies so I do not need this one. Counting my two new ones and the blown up one still in my 60 I don't need a fourth engine. No expense was spared in the build. It was fully documented here. 1987 fj60 whats she worth? 12h-t h55f

price is 6k plus shipping. Being that this in not a complete engine I realize that the market it will appeal to will be somewhat limited. If someone has a 12ht powered rig this would be considerably cheaper than paying someone to rebuild their engine and would decrease downtime. If you've driven a 12h-t powered cruiser you know how awesome these engines really are. I do have a some leads on parts to make this a complete engine and would be happy to assist someone in doing so. As a rough estimate it would probably take another 3-5k to make it complete. The main variables would be in whether the donor parts such as the injection pump and turbo were rebuilt or installed as is. Several parts such as the thermostat housings and the water pump and oil and coolant senders and fuel filter bracket etc. are cheap and readily available from Toyota.

This helps show how powerful this engine 12HT is in its stock form.

I think those powercurves are way of,I never experienced a 1HZ with aftermarket turbo to be stronger/faster then a 1hdt and always felt that the 12HT was the the Toyota diesel that delivered the most raw power off them all.Always loved 12HT's and a fresh rebuild one like this should last another 300 K miles without any issues.

I used AXT website and PDFs for the following curves:

3B, 13BT, 3B with ATX
2H, 12HT, 2H with ATX
1HZ, 1HDT , 1HD with ATX

If you look at my curves for 3B and 2H, you can see another curve that basically closely follows the curve. These 2 nested curves are from Toyota spec sheets and a sanity check to validate AXT data quality.

The 2F curve came from Toyota spec sheet and the two GM curves from the GM website.

So in the end it all data....but the curves are correct.

Correction on the following
1HD with turbo should be 1HZ with AXT turbo

guess it would depends on the 1HD-T and how it runs ..

bump for a great engine ..

So understated. So true.

GLWS! If ours needed rebuilding I'd be forcing Dad to call you ASAP!

Will let you know Friday if i want this. Going to look at a clean high mileage HJ61 that i really want.
If I make a deal for it then I want to put this motor in it.
I will keep you posted. Thanks for the quick response. John

Wouldn't happen to be the white 61 in Charlotte would it?

Roma, I just saw that white 61 from Spain. I think it is a little over priced with having no
cable lockers in her! The one I am going to see tomorrow is on ebay and I only live pretty close to it.
Hopefully we will work a deal on that cable locked beauty. Then I will put the finishing touches on her.
Your motor and a 5spd!!

cable lockers are as good as it gets :) good luck

Just bringing this back up. I also have a 12ht long block that needs a rebuild available. It lost oil pressure and developed a knock. It does still start and run but smokes on start up. It doesn't knock when started but I'm sure it would if I let it run long enough. It's still in my 60 so I can move it around my driveway. I would take 2500 for it. Which ever engine sells the remaining engine I will keep.
