I would just buy a new tub. That thing is too far gone. U could have a cool cruisers tub there in a month, and start laying paint. And it will have zero rust anywhere.

Its all about the journy not the destination.

I used to think that, buy every time I take the labor intensive route, it ends up taking me 4 times the labor hours than planned and about 3 times more money than I planned and my enthusiasm is spent and the only reason Im finishing it is because I have too much tied up into it to turn back haha.

I experienced the same conundrum. Twenty years in the making, too many years 'changing directions', too many years sitting idle, spats of thinking 'get rid of it'.... That is the journey that turned this in 1996:

Getting organized.

Started with the measurement to the bottom of the outer rocker.
Made the front part of the rocker to use as a template for the rest of the new side.
Next I cut the lower part of the rocker and the bottom of the kick panel.
Fitted the template part.

Then cut the lower part of the rear fender and used a hydraulic ram to press the inner fender back in shape.
Next step is replacing the bad part of the floor.

Looking good!
