My rear window keeps sliding down when off road, no matter how hard i wind it up. I see some 55s came with an electric back window, but mine dosnt.

Any ideas how to lock it from sliding down all the time
Cheers!

I thought they were all electric?

Or was that US only?

Can we get pics of your crank? By that, I mean window crank only... (I crack myself up)

Most were electric.

You probably need to take off the access panel and see what's going on in there. I think the mechanism is similar to the electric one, there might be a tension spring that's come loose or something...

I'll have to pull the plate off and have a look again to see if a spring is loose or missing. No electric motor in there, just a large handle to operate the window from the outside (constently afraid were going to loose it!).

sounds like the older chevy suburbans, they had crank up windows

huh.....you learn something everyday. I thought the only options on the 55's were either an electric roll up window or the ambulance doors.

does the manual crank use the same plastic gear that the electric ones do? If so, it is still available from Mr. Toyoda

Its a very heavy looking metal gear, will take some pics as soon as i get the chance

Opend it up and found a loose spring in the bottom of the door... cant see where it belongs, any ideas?
