Been driving to work this week. Hadn't any time to get the oil leak addresses. I did however run the 60 wheels to experiment with 31" tires and factory gearing.

According to my math, there is a 6.25% error in the speedometer. I may stick with these and get 33's on my spare set of 60 rims to mount back on my land cruiser. Current set of powdercoated steelies will go for sale.
I'll post after I clean them up nice.

The tire shop had a hard time balancing my steelies. I wonder if it's the tires, or maybe the rims themselves, not sure. The 60 wheels and tires run smooth as butter. I don't need all these wheels sitting around, so I think I made up my mind. I will keep the 60 wheels and get rid of the steelies.

I've run oversized tires on my vehicles for so many decades I only think of the speedometer as being a general guideline anyway...

When trying to fix an oil leak turns into a much bigger thing.
Y'all think I should run this, or rebuild?
I know m6 answer already, but checking to see what everyone else is thinking.

Wow…that changed quickly!

lol, yes. I am shopping for parts now. Got a gasket kit already, need pistons and bearings. Rings and such, and to the machine shop she'll go. I'll then do the reassembly. I am going to pull the motor first to see sizes and such first, before I order bearings. I am thinking to go .20 over if I can find a set of pistons and matching rings.

You’re a trusting soul…those cords stretch much? How long do you think this is going to take to re-assemble?

That's actually bailing wire! Trust me, I thought twice about it before hanging the motor off it. It does have some 600lbs of breaking strength per strand. The chain I have wouldn't fit through the bolts and that wire was handy. I am gonna take it apart to take note of pistons ad bearing sizes. I will then order the stuff and then upon receipt, take everything to the machine shop. They said they have 3 week backlog. So I am assuming I'll be building this motor in June.

I get that the wire was handy… that situation has happened to me all of my life… I know I have what I need but for any number of reasons, I just can’t get my hands on it. In fact yesterday..same thing. Knives, scissors and razor blades all over the place yet I’m trying to open a taped up box with a pair of pliers that was in front of me

All dismantled. Ready for machine shop. Waiting on os pistons and such to bring to shop for bore machining to match.
Then all back together it goes.
I should take some pics though.

Pistons, rings and bearing en route.
Should be dropped off at machine shop next Friday I think. Will be building this back up in 2 weeks time I'd say. Some pistons say aisin, some have the toyota logo. Bearings appear to be standard.

All bearings were not too bad, except number 3 rod, had a bit of abnormal wear with a good size scuff mark in the middle of the bearing. I will post a pic or two. Ultimately, I'm glad I did this. She'll be good to go for a very long time.

I’m glad too!…got my eye on your truck. 😉. You’re probably not the first one in this neighborhood of the block. It will be running 25 more years like a new truck!

I tried so hard to keep this thing alive, especially rebuilding the chassis. They are far gone from the North east! Now with the engine being rebuilt as well, it’ll probably be a bit before she goes to pasture.

Parts trickled in. Left new os pistons, block, head and crank at machine shop. Today I got the cam deliverred too! Its nothing crazy, just a bit more performance, which should work well with my existing headers, 2" exhaust, and webber 38.

Guess it’s not going to be one of those economy rebuilds… I can see the dollar signs adding up already

These parts were just over 500 bucks, which in today's money, is only worth about a week's worth of groceries.
