TonKota were do wheel around spokane maybe we can hook up for a trail run or something. I am down here in moscow for school.

Correction the hole is after the cats and right before the connection that goes to the muffler. I am thinking I need to fix the hole for everything to be cleared.

Nope. nothing after the O2 sensor matters. Well, assuming that the cat is not clogged anyway. But holes after the cat never matter.

Mark...

We dont have to go that hard wheeling since mine is my DD also and the only way I can get home. I did mine in park and it seemed to work but I will try it in neutral and see if it is different. And I am thinking that I need some new O2 sensors (that is going to hurt the old wallet).

I hope these help - from my '88 FSM:
Thanks for posting those three pages. I printed them out and was able to get my codes. 25 and 26. Now the hunt begins!

Maybe awaken an old thread here… got a check engine light driving home a new to me 88 FJ62. It appeared 5 miles after I threw in 10 gallons of 92 non ethanol. Previous owner had been consistently running 87 ethanol.

I did the above procedure w/ a jumper wire at the firewall diagnostic terminal and got a code “71”. Thoughts? Likely related to the octane change? Thanks!

I had this issue and cleaning the EGR valve helped a lot I do rarely get it still during certain driving scenarios but it goes away. The EGR systems in these trucks are getting very old. It might be worth going through the checklist to verify function of each of the EGR related components.
