Re-ring a good idea or just drive it tell it dies.

Compression numbers are 80lbs +/_ 2lbs in every cylinder. Does not burn oil and the spark plugs look good. Runs good but sometimes I think it is tired as I often times have to put it in 4low to get it to move on a steep hill when out playing.

It seems like it would probably be reasonable to do a simple cylinder hon and re-ring with the compression numbers being equal in all cylinders. Any one with engine building experience or others out there have thoughts on it. Re-ring or drive until it dies and rebuild /engine swap.
Thanks

Is it a F or 2F? I would just drive and enjoy it. Sometimes when you think it is a simple ring job it turns into a complete overhaul due to the condition of the other parts.

You can do a re ring and bearings in a weekend if your prepared.
It can't hurt...
Maybe get your head done too.

My quick rering job has escalated into a full rebuild. Bore, turn crank, regrind cam, extensive head work, balancing and a wheelbarrow full of money..........

I tried it once in a no-oil-burning engine; it changed nothing.

Drive it til it dies.

It will not die ... I tried ... it just gets slower :meh:

Trust me I know. The story of the F135 I finally, reluctantly pulled out of my lwb is epic. Pretty sure I posted it some time back.

Thanks guys, I might pull the head and pan just to see how things look in the winter when I am not driving it.

Try a wet compression test - many LC engines have valve issues LONG before they have ring issues. I would not just pull the head to look around inside until you have a reason to.
