Kit only or RTR?

Most of Tamiya's stuff is kit form.

I don't know much about those things, so I guess it's quite possible that the FJ's less sophisticated than the Hilux.

Hilux is a 3 speed. FJ is a one speed I believe. They are two different animals really. FJ is intended for rockcrawling while maintaining a scale appearance. Hilux is more of a true scaler.

Tamiya 1/10 Toyota Hilux High-Lift Kit

Tamiya RC Toyota Land Cruiser 40 CR-01

Hilux $379.99
FJ $424.99

The FJ will come down as the $424.99 is the manufacturer's suggested retail.

I'll be here if anyone wants mine.

Don't worry, people will want them. I want one but just for the body.

Couple places to get rid of them:

RCCrawler.com Bulletin Board
Buy/Sell/Trade - Scale 4x4 R/C Forums

Might want to be careful how you do it so they don't mistake you for a vendor.

if it's $300US, then that's unbelievably cheap.
I think that's a lot cheaper than what the new Hilux/Mountaineer(sp) thingy is going for.

I had both a Hilux (in '83) and a bruiser later, around '86. A NOS bruiser kit will easily fetch over $1000 now. They had a 3 speed r/c-shifted transmission. The Hilux had selectable hubs. The Bruiser had one-way bearing hubs. Both had locked (live) axles with drive shafts and leaf springs. They were very realistic and wheeled great.

The biggest difference between then and now is battery technology. Both of the old kits came with 6v 4.5ah batteries. In that same space now you could easily triple the storage capacity.

Didn't the original Bruisers also have all metal gears? I could be wrong but I think all the more recent Tamiya kits (including the 2nd Gen Bruisers) had some metal/some plastic driveline internals.

Euros=329,95
US $=309.99

Any news from Japan?

no lockers

I'm not aware of 2nd gen Bruisers. The one I had was the first gen and certainly was almost entirely metal.

Bump!

MOT where are you?:hhmm:

I've just browsed through Tamiya's site, but no info as to when it might get released here just yet (that I could find).

I'll keep on looking every now and then.

Anyone here built one up yet??? I'm going to get one but the hardest thing is I have no experiences painting the body:eek:, masking is hard and I am afraid I might mess up the body.

I'm in the process of building one of these. I've got the frame and axles built so far.
Suspension is next. I've found the instructions a little lacking in detail.
I've had to do a couple of the steps twice when I found out at a later stage I had misread
the instructions. Grrrrrrrrr
Any tips on this build would be appreciated.

it is a cool little rig I lead stripped the tires replaced the tires also chopped the tub removed shocks and front trac bars it crawls a lot nicer now it did roll real easy though. Almost like the real thing I will post pics of the finished one. FJ55 001.webp

The Rooster Crawler motor combo your lookin at works good. I have that in my crawler. You should consider bumping up to a Spektrum radio,it is WAY more adjustable, and you don't have to worry about frequency conflicts. The other thing you want to get is a good high torque metal gear servo, the others just don't get it! When looking for a radio, look for a three channel, you will want to get a dig unit down the road and will need it.

we'll I can't see spending that much on the car yet. I'll steal my rustler radio and order that other stuff.

Do you have any pictures of your RC car?
