X-10 on the Spektrum radio system. My kid put a Spektrum receiver in his Rustler and a mini in his 1/36th scale micro Radio and two receivers was about $400.00. You will never have interference especially at a busy track. Most new cars and trucks come with them right out of the box. My new Losi 8IGHT Truggy came with one.

I'll try to get some pics up of my collection this evening. We just picked up a used DX-2 for $99.00 for my boy, unfortunately he got a crawler and will need a third channel sometime. There's alot of used radio equipment out there, check around.;)

I ordered my Servo and built up to a rolling chassis. I'm going to steal my xl-5 esc and radio from my rustler and run the stock motor on the cr-01. I figured I see how it is and if it's ok, upgrade the ruster to a VXL.

Gundy, which unit do like best, and why?

AX10 crawls better. More articulation. Simple design. Mods aplenty available.
I use a 45 Turn motor and an ESC with ABS braking. Lead weights in wheels.
Bushwacker body. Even with mods it's less $$$ than the CR-01.

CR-01 is SWEET! Very scale looking. God awful complicated set up and build.
I love it. The build was a great project. Crawls darn good stock. If I could only have one
I'd build the CR-01. The body you see on mine is the beater body yet it looks great due to
the scale effect.
This spring I'm building a scale set up for the CR-01. Interior , winch etc. for display.
That way I can beat the snot out of the CR-01 with the inter-changeable body of the beater shown.

The CR-01 body (about $45 with stickers) on an AX10 ($225 or so) would give the best of
both worlds.
There is one such set up in this section. Looks SWEET!

The Nikko Trail Blazer is a JOKE. I've had it for decades. ;) Two wheel drive
open diff. Poser all the way. It does have digital proportional speed and steering
but that's about it.

The Zip Zaps are a HOOT. I had to mate a 40 body to a monster truck to make those.
Working lights and they do wheel stands w/ spin rounds. Several different tire wheel combos
and even several different motor/gear choices. Locked front and rear. A HOOT in 1/64.

I guess it just depends. Real cool detail in near scale. CR-01 $$$
Kick butt crawler you can crazy mod. AX10 $$
Chits and giggles. Zip Zap, good luck finding one AND a diecast 40 to fit the chassis. ;)

Hmmm, I wonder where the Losi Mini fits in?

If I ever find a FJ40 body to fit on one I'd have one of those too. ;)
I did buy a Losi Mini Baja Bug and it's a fun little R/C in 2WD.
Those Losi Mini trucks look like they would be VERY capable 4WD.

I've got my CR-01 built except I don't have the body with me while i'm away for business. I'm in Maine and I had to get it built for the snow fall we had the other day and it did pretty well. I first tried it with open diffs. then locked the rear. I still can't climb all the snow piles. I locked the front also today and I really don't notice and steering issues. I think it does climb the soft snow piles better also.

Also today I removed the front stabilizer bar. I read someone removed it for more flex and I'm pretty sure it is better.

What are you guys doing for being locked diff or not?
I'm all locked.
