Check out this site for 3/16 tube clamps that are insulated and have a 9/32 hole for 20 cents ea for 3/16 and 25 cents for 3/8 thinking about getting them plus some of the double Stainless 3/16x3/16, 3/8x3/8 and some 3/16x3/8. Not sure how many of each to buy. The stainless steel will have to be drilled for a bigger mounting hole. Unless some one has a better source? the web site is Allen Fasteners http://www.allensfasteners.com/sear...$S|$E|DS|DE|TX|Pg&PAGE=2&PageSize=20&sortBy=3

Yes, Scott, but it looks like the through hole is much smaller than the 8mm hole on the Toyota clamps. That could be a problem.

I ball parked the size of the flat portion of that 3/26 by 3/16 clamp and I'm fairly certain that the flat portion of that clamp isn't wide enough to put an 8mm bolt in the (freshly drilled) hole have room to use a socket to tighten it. It appears to only be about 15mm across and that's not enough room to easily tighten a 12mm head. It may do in a pinch but I'd like to find clamps that work better. Thanks for the research though!

Stop the presses and start the bending!

II still have a few remaining issues or items for the FJ40 build but I've begun creating the brake line sets anyway. It's part time / part time but it goes fairly fast. So here's the deal:

As soon as I can take a big deep breath, I'm going to go back through this thread and find all of you who want lines. I've gone through the PMs and have created order forms to keep track. Once I've gone through it all I will post a list of MUD handles for those who've asked for lines. I have not had enough time yet to figure out the absolute best way to catch up and never get behind. With my 5 part time jobs it's only slightly mind bending. One of the 5 is about to end and I will double time the brake lines for a while.

Thanks for all the patience you've shown me through this. I'm stumped by the lack of resources to get the other year trucks patterned. I'll just guess that since I haven't had the time yet, I didn't need the opportunity. It will happen soon...

And after 3 years they've finally broken ground on the distillery behind my property! Maybe in 6 months or so that full time job will start. I WILL keep Rainman's Brake Lines LLC open though for a night job.

If you're on this list, please post, PM or contact me somehow to update the info if it's missing or wrong.
I'm just having trouble finding all the info. As a friend of mine says, It's like pulling fly sh*t out of horse sh*t.

Put me on hold for now. We just moved. My garage is not set up and all car parts are in storage.

2th,
You need to step up and pay Rainman for a set. That $300 I paid for those rear seats must be burning a hole in your pocket.

...via IH8MUD app
If I recall correctly, I held on to that $300 for about two days. Sent it (plus some) to Mark (Marks Off-road) for a set of his headers. Engined purred pretty until I disassembled the whole truck a few months later. Fast forward a bit, car in a million pieces, all in storage due to our move. But the frame is blasted and painted and gorgeous.

Sorry for the hi-jack...

My deepest apologies to those of you who want kits. I got the hot poker from the owner of my project truck to get the thing done. NOW! so I've not been able to spend any quality time on the brake lines over the last couple of weeks or so since I fabricated the set for the "2NDCHNC" 40. I'll be going through the PMs and notes to see who said they want some, and who said they will want some, and who actually ordered some... If your one of these and want to place an oder to clear things up just send me a message with a clear understanding of what you want and I should be able to work on those soon. She expects delivery of the Cruiser on the 9th... or else...

whats the cost for a brake line set (in engine compartment) for a 1981 fj40? thanks.

@tweo , I don't have the patterns for your production date yet. I haven't been able to get the coal club's attention long enough to see other year trucks up close. As soon as I can get patterns I'll be able to cover more years.

Sorry. I really wish I could help. Just not yet.

Okay guys. I'm creeping up on getting the first two kits completed. Thanks for all the patience. When these are complete, I'll start fining out the best and least expensive way to ship them and find out the cost of course. Here's a look at the progress.

I will say up from I didn't read the whole thread . But I'm interested in purchasing a brake kit if your making one for the early model 1972 fj40 .

Stay tuned @Casey E. I don't have patterns yet for the earlier years but I hope to get there. I wish I had a clue when. I just need to find local trucks that fit outside the years I have patterns for. I have lines from 9/75 to 9/77 and the whole rear axle setup and short disc caliper lines until 8/80.
Just go check out the first page. It's all there.

No. I haven't crawled under a rock. One of my tools is out-of-service and I'm replacing it with a MUCH better tool from England that doesn't sell here. I've got a friend in Scotland that's buying tit for me and shipping over. I have no idea what's holding this up but it's been weeks and still nothing.

So sorry this has taken so long but none of the indians are restless so I guess I'm okay. For now...
