Don't believe it - he's playing with his baby Hemi again! (Looks great BTW)

Yep...

It's obvious what the hold-up is. Your Scottish friend is sampling the goods before shipment.

Actually shipped on the 26th. I wonder how slow the boat is.........

The new tool is here!.. The new tool is here!..
Best think since sliced bread and the old brake line straightener. This one is better, faster, cheaper.

I'm in full swing (for the time being) and cranking out the lines. I've got a line on a connection for boxes to ship these in, Hoping to get that taken care of this coming week. I should be shipping at least the first two full kits this week. Thanks go out to all of you who have asked for kits and have had patience in waiting for them. It won't be long now...

Another update to clear up availability.

Here is the updated and current parts breakdown showing what production dates I have covered. The parts in RED are the ones I have patterns for. None of the others yet and no prospects right now for new ones. The contact for the local club has failed to follow up. Don't know why. Don't care.

So I cover all 13 pieces from 9/75 to 8/80. AT least that's what fits on all the trucks I've seen within those dates. New info shows I can make 10 of the 13 lines though '83.

(old chart has been deleted. Obsolete)

Very very close.. One set ready for shipping, the next several within a biz day or two. Partial order of inventory should come in tomorrow.
Here are the boxes lined up and ready to pack.

Im super impressed by the level of craftsmanship here. making quality lines is not an easy thing to do - let alone the speed here.

What tool did you just get - can we get a link?

This is awesome. I think it would great if you can provide a visual (photos with arrows) to show exactly which one is which.

As a matter of fact, I have just that in progress. I just haven't decided how far or detailed I need to be.

EDIT:
Check out post #206 on page 11.

If you don't mind, let me just enjoy having the only one in my neighborhood. I heard the other day that Eastwood just started offering it so it won't be long...

I can understand some business secrets but this is still tech, not a vendor forum - i won't be buying a $$$$$$ brake tool any time soon. In fact... I wish you could get your hands on some 1971 lines. I'm dreading making the firewall line.

Just maybe we can work something out. Take a few shots, like the starting point at the frame over to the master, and a few measurements and send them to me. I'll see how similar the lines are to the later models and maybe, just maybe, we can get you a set.

For instance, is the firewall very similar? I'll bet it is. Do both lines begin on the passenger side rail and have coils in them? What's the booster like? What's the master like?

Unfortunately i don't have the truck assembled for measurements but the 1971 style only had one line across the the firewall. Coiled down the passenger side.

Rainman was an outstanding guy to do business with. I went to his place near Nashville to pick up the first set of lines he had ready for someone to get. I was honored to be the first. He had all the brake lines ready for me to pickup. I wanted to pick them up because the two coming off the master i was afraid of the shipping bend and having to straighten them out after i got them. He showed me how they work and i should have saved a 3.5 hour drive one way.

This guy has it under control. He is an illustrator so his instructions are excellent. He showed me how he has the bend marked that one has to straighten for shipping. Piece of cake.

He did such a good job i am having him fab my clutch line and my return fuel line. Both will have shipping bends i will have to straighten. When you straighten them you wont be able to tell.

Dont second guess this guy he has done the research better than you will.

He has a tool from Scotland used for straightening the tubing after it come off the coil. Neat tool works great straightening the lines.

Rainy is a very down to earth guy and i am glad i decided to have him make my lines both brake and fuel and now clutch.

Yes you could make them but why its one less thing you have to worry about. Use the line and fittings he recommends.

Here is a pick of Rainy and the box with the kit. Your master cylinder lines will be made to fit in this box shown in the pic.

It was a quick trip wish i had more time to visit with him.

My pics of the kit and box arent the greatest maybe he will post better pics.

It will be months before i can check the fit. Im sure they will work fine.

Yep - Rainman is a great guy. He researches deeply and does very high quality work. Brake lines are a hobby. He's been part of the Land Cruiser community for many years, and has owned a truck (the Zebranator) and rebuilt a beautiful truck for a client (soon to be boss - that's saying something!)

He's pretty modest so we have to help him out.

Sorry I missed you ShipMag. I'm about 20 min north of Rainman.

Thanks guys... Vae, get your facts straight. I've had 3 FJ40s and 1 FJ45. Only one of them was Zebranator II.

I have a 73, 12/72 build that is currently torn apart and all the brake lines removed. I won't be getting it back together anytime soon so if you need a set for templates let me know and I can box them up and mail them to you. Should cover the 71-75 piece that you are missing.

Bing bing bing! Great idea!
