i have been using the same method for years now.
an old antenna has been my "fish". there is a spigot on the rubber boot where the elect comes through the firewall. i clip it off and shove the anttena through. then i elect tape the wires and boost line back through.
works like a charm.

drove the truck around the block tonite....

couple minor issues to work out, but all in all - its coming together nicely.....

the turbo intercooled PZ is a great engine for this truck....

of course a turbo HZ would be even better

low 1st gear in the 4 speed and the 4.88's are super low..... unfortunately cruising down the road I was wanting to shift into a nonexistant 5th gear...

this thing is begging for 35's

I got on Waynes case about not putting up some pics the last couple days and he says that he will have plenty of time for such nonsense in a couple days when the guys are insulating the shop

58811-60050-03 console front box
58808-60042-BO cover sub-assembly shifting hole
58805-60012-BO cover sub-assy trans lever MTM

the part numbers on some are different LHD vs RHD. these are the RHD units.
email sent to dave for used or new...

Cool mate
Do you think the hole in the manual console would go over the h150 stick position
What manual gearboxs come in the prados, just so i can get a idea ias the h55f ,h150 and r151 boxs have their gearsticks in different spots

Cheers

the LJ78 and the HD 77 series all share the same body, the trim level is different. the PZ comes with the R151, the HZ comes with the H55F and the LJ comes with the R151. none of the 77 series up to 94 came with the H150 H151 trannies. we can not get newer than that so i can not answer your question properly.

the truck is on the road, the paint is not completed due to no heat in the garage, then when i finally got the heat working again the next day the garage was gutted and the cement got busted up. a pit is now dug and the bottom floor finished. Monday the rest of the floor will be proured then insulation is sprayed in. it will be a few weeks before i can get it painted.

i did to a gentle 0-100 km run. 12.4 seconds but this isn't accurate since i was running 32" tires and the speedo is set for the stock 29".
now you compare (just for the fun of it) with a stock LJ78 with the 2LTE and that run is 28.7 seconds. even if you have a LJ78 rrunning better than most it is 21 seconds. once i get everything tweaked i will give it another test run but i can say it is much nicer to drive now.
since it is just a 4 speed top speed is limited to 130 k/h but that is enough to cost you $10,000 and a crushed vehicle in Ontario in this area. it is real hard to keep it at 90 k/h, it creeps up to 110 very easy.

would i recommend a swap like this?
to replace the head on a 2LTE costs $4000
to upgrade the rad is $500
to upgrade the exhaust is $700
to do the other mickey mouse stuff is another $600

the cost to do this install is roughly double that total but you end up with better drivabliliy, reliability, better starting, more power and fuel economy will be better as well. there is no loss to the swap.
you end up with coil suspension, 4/90 gears, comfort.

i would recommend going with the R151 for a DD instead of the R141. that OD is really needed. i will be running the 35s once i get it painted to drop the rpms.

i do have some more pics to post up but no time at the present.

cheers and thanks for following along.

<BTW, if i add the propane to this truck the performance will drop another couple / 3 seconds. that is the duramax run time.>

You really need to dyno this truck, you think it will be in the 10-13 second 01-100 kms/hr range?

considering i am 3 sizes over on tires already and turning 12.7 under medium acceleration i can say with confidence... yes. 10-13 sec 0-100 is a strong posibility.

off for the first play run with the truck. we will see how it does.
cheers

ok, i'd like to see a video of when you change from medium to "full" power, there is a huge difference between 10 and 13 seconds, and a very big difference from 100-110 kms/hr. Not saying you can't do 10 seconds, but unlikely. And I still want to see a dyno:)

no dyno, waste of money buddy.
as for 10 seconds, maybe yes maybe no but i can say this...
the run today brought the love for this truck back 10 fold!!
this engine swap is the best thing i have done to Land Cruisers in decades... the bloody thing brings a smile to my face.
i will be posting pics of the run in another thread.
cheers (got to run)

some teasers...

and Bruce, you were right, see the running board? i caught a hidden rock and it was shoved almost into the door. i pushed it back down but next on the agenda is the sliders to protect them doors.

That looks *#!?ing cool

Hey,Wayne

That looks pretty cool.
Hope you guys had a great run.

Did I read that a pit is dug in the Spa.
Starting my cruiser Xmas list, hope to have all parts by April.

What colour are you paint the new rig.

Talk to you later.

Dave

LOL, we all waste money on these trucks and you are as much of an expert at it than I am, but at some point you have to back up your assertions about your truck and how peppy it is:)

Glad you had fun, looks like a bastard child but will look alot better when the paint is done - I always liked the HZJ77 look.

Got my engine from Dave, going to do some swapping in the next couple of months.

0-100 time and lug is all i care about.
HP figures are a joke when it comes to a diesel.
13BT - 135 hp
1HZ - 135 hp

and the drivability is completely different between the two. hence my call that a dyno is a waste. seat of the pants tells all.

"The Bastard Child" - you named it and the Bastard it will be till it leaves my hands. (i never name my own vehicles. if someone calls one of my trucks a term that i like, it sticks. "The Mountain Goat" "the Tractor" "The Bush Pig" "the Idiot Mobile" "The Moose" and many i have forgotten to name a few)

yes, the paint will make a difference.

back to the build:
you need to change out the throttle cable the 2LTE cable is too short to properly move the cam.
Rusty with the new driveshaft.

we got the driveshaft installed and the truck vibrated BAD at 70 k/h. the next day i took the shaft back off and drove the truck with just the front shaft and the vibration was much less. i sent the shaft back asking if they ran the saft on the lathe. the owner appologized profusely for the blunder. it seems the shaft got handed off to a rookie that booger welded it together. a new weld job and it runs fine now.

vacumm canisters installed, there is 2 for the 70 series with vacumm assisted clutch.
you need to change the washer motor over if you are running a 12V system.
the rear output flange will be needing changing if you are extending the HD 70 series driveshaft.
