tacking in place
then removed for welding the plates on

in hind sight i should have done this before reinstalling the engine. for some reason i thought i need to check clearences. turns out since both ends are attached to the frame the clearences are not critical.

duh.

installing the rad and hoses.
i like to have the "power flush" adapter next to the firewall. it makes getting all the air out of the system so much easier.
as you can see the rad is full but there is nothing at the firewall.
2L later and it finally dribbled out.
now you can also achieve the same results by lifting the front of the truck up till the rad spout is higher than the highest point of the cooling system.

at this point Rusty showed up and he assumed the position... of working under the rig.
(he is younger and skinnier than i am)
i had a driveshaft that someone had REALLY torqued the nuts on. i had tried and tried to get that bugger off.
Rusty shows up and takes matters into his own hands. a zip disc and the flange is sitting on the floor.

the nuts still sticking through the flange
starting on eliminating a bunch of wires and connectors.

the alternator plugs are different...

the front driveshaft from the PZJ70 was a perfect fit.
the rear LJ78 driveshaft will need to be lengthened 4" to an overall length of 44".
as you could see in an earlier photo i positioned the shifters to be centered in the hole in the floor tranny cover. hence the reason the PZJ70 shaft would fit.

well that is it for tonight.

today 5 hours.

cheers and thanks for following along.

nah, the cab stays stock and the connectors are different between the LJ and the PZ. i would have opened up a nasty mess if i went that route.

Isn't everything the same in the cab - just swap the dash and electrics over and you are done??? Pulling the wiring harness would only take about an hour, and an hour to reinstall and you are done. Anyway, have fun with it. Now your mess will be in the engine compartment instead of the cab:)

ummm, 12V vs 24V. elec everything vrs none. auto vs manual. too much to screw with.

curious, have you ever pulled the dash and harness. if you honestly think you can have it done in an hour... i will buy the beer and come watch you work. i have pulled a couple now and it is NOT an easy job.

not trying to be a smart ass although i might be coming across as one.

Ok, so you want some luxuries? Auto vs manual doesnt really mater if you swap out the main harness and all you electrics - but I guess you want to go with the 12v setup? prado is 12 and the pzj70 was 24 right? Wiring is fun eh.

Yes I can have a dash out and wiring harness out in about an hour - practice makes perfect - no beer for me until it is done though. It's easier that you think, if I were closer I would do it for you.

Wasting no time

Hey,Wayne

When do you sleep, LOL
How is the new welder working out.
I have been reading the thread, looks good.

Might try to get up and see the truck, work is very busy.

Dave

i sleep when i can, the older yah get the less you need.
the new welder is kickin, i love it.

IF all goes well, i should have it on the road by Monday.

the rear driveshaft went in today to get "stretched". a bunch of the wiring is cleaned up. all the factory senders are attached. i have to go to the local wreckers and get a new plug for the alternator.
LH side wiring is done.
started on the gauges as well.

should, maybe, have some updates tonight.

cheers

the new pyro sender installed.
