I would take advantage of the hard-on that everyone has for a PTO winch and sell for top $$$.

Yeah, I'm coming around. So I guess I need to figure out what that complete OME or Ironman setup is going to run and price accordingly. :D

Hmmm... I sent him a message. That's a pretty good deal, and it's the later h42 so it could be swapped later with little trouble.

Well I did a little studying on my project this afternoon. Working out location of tub storage for the interim, but while doing a little closer inspection of the body I found some things that I believe will make full reassembly tedious at best.

Exhibit A. Both sides where windshield hinges attach...

Exhibit B - rear door hinge mount

And in addition to that it appears That most of the wiring and or cabling was just cut out to facilitate parts removal.

So it would appear that when the body work starts I'm going to be sourcing a lot of little parts. The biggest pain is the pull cables. The blend door cables, heater control cables, pretty much all of them were cut to pull pieces out.

Also going to need a few patch panels, rear sill being on the top of the list.

After looking over all that stuff I went into the totes to see what I could find. Most of it is parts from the F. Intake/exhaust manifold, starter, dizy, old waterpump, t-stat housing, etc. All parts that will most likely not be reused.

The heater box and Most of the various blower parts look to be there, but I honestly have no idea what I may be missing until I actually don't have it.

It also appears that all of the knobs and such are still in the dash.

I still have a good bit to go thru, but my general survey of things is that most all of the big pieces are most likely here, but there will be a good bit of cleaning and tapping and rethreading to do and a lot of small parts to come up with.

Its gonna be a long slow process, but I think in the end the juice will be worth the squeeze. Only bad thing is if I end up having to cup up and replace bits like the sill, fenders and windshield mounts, the body won't be far from just spraying the whole thing... Time will tell.

Oh and other than the rear sill, this looks to be the worst spot on the body.

As tigger used to say "tah tah for now"

Man, I really hate that the PO took so little care in removing the parts. What a waste.

Yeah, it kinda stinks. I think @wngrog was right, when I get to that part, I will be doing a lot of research on parts and placement to try and find everything I need and also get it all back together properly.

I think the best suggestion was to have a fully assembled one parked next to your pile for reference, but that's probably not practical.

Yeah, that would be ideal, but the likelihood of me finding someone to let me just borrow one for an extended period is probably going to be slim. This may be an opportunity to make nice with one of the shops locally that caters to the "I want a 40, not to wheel just to have, crowd" phone calls will be had.

On the planning front, I have been reading up on power steering and the 60 series swap seems pretty clean and gets rid of the push pull system, thoughts on that. Seems the box is mounted outboard, which doesn't really excite me. I'm coming to terms with the fact that I may end up with an abomination to some as I continue to cut stuff off and add stuff on, but in the end, I am building it for me so I guess I may as well do what I want with it.

@fountainhead I emailed that guy about the axle. Huntsville isn't far and I also asked if he had any 60 steering stuff while I was at it. Thanks for that.

This is a very good idea.

As much as you want to do to that truck I think you need to punt. Get one with a better body minus a motor. You are gonna be way way way deep on this the way you are going to have to do body work to boot.

You got s steal on it. Use the good stuff.

@wngrog may be right.

You've got several thousand of dollars you could make by parting it out.

You could use the money you make to roll into a 40 that's not a hack job.

As GREAT of a deal as you got, I tend to agree with the others. When a truck is not running - and especially when it came in parts and is not even movable - it's a whole different level of difficult to get those projects started / put it back together......not that it can't be done, but I think it's safe to say it'll cost you 50%+ more to build/restore one like that than to find a running one and restore it.
