Well made some progress tonight. Got the stock bumper pulled went to install the IPOR and looks like I need to cut out the rear crossmember for it to fit?? I am calling IPOR tomm to find out. Also got my rear ubolts pulled off so I can put in the extra leaves on my rear springs. Should get those wrapped up tomm.

Battery is on charge tonight and if that doesnt fix it then I will get it checked at a shop tomm. If the batt is good I am going to start drawing straws!

Shocks should be on tomm or Wednesday afternoon. (Wouldnt be the first time running Cullowhee without shocks though.) No shocks = crazy drive there and back! Been there done that, rather not do it again.

Then in the midst of all that and traveling for work this week, trying to see if this will be one of the last major trips for the 62. Will know more later and post up details then.

I am getting hyped too! JP you doing Rotel, or do one of us need to bring it??

Matt glad to hear things are progressing for you........ hopefully the starter is just due to a weak batt.

and I will bring Rotel!!!

Well I just checked the most recent forecasts and it seems now they think the rain is going to be holding on into Sat. morning ................ did I mention I have no top or functioning windshield wipers??? :frown:

I guess atleast I have TSLs and not MTRs like Steve :grinpimp:........ that guy is going to be all over the place!!!

meh - you'll be fine. Thurs 50% chance, Fri 40%, Sat 20%, Sun 10% and besides - you don't have to worry about your shoes getting wet.

I priced some TSLs for my Piggie and  the cost!

Borrow a bikini top or something

JP, I have a bikini you can use... just let me know.

Who says MTR's suck? OK, they do so I'm counting on you TSL guys to pull me up the hills.

Nothing like a nice dry day

Thanks for the offer on the top Steen, but I will be fine............ I got my full rain suit packed and have my gaters incase the mud gets really deep :D

this may come as a surprise to you guys ;) but this won't be my first trip topless in a rain storm atleast this time I have a windshield........... I hated having to wear those ski goggles; people gave me the strangest looks :D

At this point the rain doesn't look bad by Thursday. Looks like lots of drizzle, some rain but the fog will likely be thick. It is going to get much cooler and windy on the balds so plan accordingly!!

As long as it doesn't rain like the "operation nighttime jungle extraction" trip, you'll be fine. :D

:D............. the worst part of that whole adventure was the FOG of all the years I have spent playing in the mountains I have never seen it that thick; it was playing tricks on my mind I lost all sense and perception of direction, I didn't know if I was going up or down hill....... I felt like I was in the twilight zone

My GPS with 3D elevation maps can help with that :)

Yeah, it was nuts. I was hallucinating for a while it was so thick.

Looks like the same kind of fog Thursday later on and Friday am before the front moves through. Be careful driving up there and getting to the trails, especially 1st timers who don't know the area.

well to change things up a bit and start up a conspiracy theory........... I was over on the Rover board snooping around as I do from time to time, and accorrding to them there are signs posted now on some of the trails stating that certian areas are going to be gated and closed off. The rover guys didn't mention what trails but regardless if this is true it isn't a good news at all........ we will have to see for ourselves this weekend what areas may be affected. we can't let the forrest service take away the holy land!!!! Hopefully the rover guys were mistaken and I am just getting everyone worked up for nothing..............

and on another note the rover guys have confirmed what marshall said, and that is that the moses creek trail has been graveled all the way to the bald :frown: good news is that was one of the more tame and boring trails in my opinion and there are still plenty of good ones out there!!

Yeah, I saw that too but didn't want to stir the pot.

Take pics of the signs, it sounds like they are at the bottom of Caney.

Even if gates are constructed, the NC game lands portions will remain open, at least during hunting season. The good news is that Moses, Caney and much of the acreage in that area are currently NC game lands per the current maps.
