Success! Well, the compression ring on the gasket on number one cylinder didn't look so good.

dang dude, the speed of your projects make the rest look bad ;)

So after bumping into the timing chain sprocket and breaking the chain tensioner guide I've decided to pull the engine. I was able to inspect the rear main seal area and it seems to be leaking as well as the oil pan. I'll be able to replace the chain and guides and will be easier to do the oil pan and rear main seal. There's lots of worms moving around in the garage now!🤣

and now, the fun really begins :bounce:

Daughter bought herself a 4 Runner last night. Not bad at all for what she paid for it. I ordered the timing belt kit and trying to decide on tire size now.

Gonna be my project for a couple of weeks.

sweet looking third gen dude, congrats to her. She wanted a change from the RX she owns already?

She is way excited. The RX is a good car, she just wanted a real 4 wheel drive. She wanted a Tacoma, but I really don't like a pickup in the snow. I talked her into a 4runner then found this one for 2500. She has money to buy parts to fix it up, free labor of course. I was sure happy to see it has a locker in the rear.

Nice find!

Wow a rear locker!!!

Since I've been on quarantine for almost 2 weeks due to a coworker testing positive for COVID and me being in the building at the same time, I decided to take a day of vacation and widen my driveway by 20' near the house to facilitate turning around or parking without getting in the mud. They will let any fool with $250 rent a Bobcat for a day. The Land Cruiser was working hard to tow this beast but still did pretty good. Glad the trailer had brakes though.

Oh, and I did get a COVID test on Monday and got a negative result today, in case anyone was worried.

Only one of her new tires showed up yesterday. The rest should be here today. I will get them mounted tonight so she can go get them balanced tomorrow. Then all I have left to do to the truck is change transmission fluid, brake fluid, and sway bar bushings and end links. I will probably have more money in parts on this thing than what she paid for it, but then I don't have to worry about it breaking on her.

Congrats to your Daughter on getting her first vehicle. Great choice . Very exciting! My first ride was a 1962 VW bug. Lots of fun, and I found out it did well off road, too.
Drove it through high school.
Hope to see her out on one of our club's future rides.

Awww, how cool is THAT? Kids earning their cars is awesome to hear these days. What tire and where did you get them from? Also, did you upsize or kept them the same?

I am proud of her. She works and is going to school to be a nurse and was able to save $5000 for a car. She has also been helping work on it.

I got the Falken Wildpeaks. I buy all my tires from Amazon. They are great in the snow we get. They are a little bigger than stock. 265/75 16 instead of 265/70.

Built me a rack to hold pipes and sheets of stuff! It was getting out of control around my house with crap everywhere. :hillbilly:

Tested on Monday, results on Wednesday? Was that expedited, or is that the normal turn-around time right now? Glad to hear you don't have the virus.

Is this an automatic or manual? If auto be aware that the radiator is a known failure point. The tranny cooler is known to fail and mix coolent with tranny fluid.
