If any Cruiser ever deserved a stainless steel Coleman cooler...this'd be the one.

The dumb ass took up his entire bed with a radiator. If the (tiny) one he has breaks loose from its bungy bindings he may not knock but one or two holes in said radiator with a plastic one.

:D

Cool rig to watch work on the trail. In anyone but Gary's hands it would really work great ;)

Not for long.

Hows that AC working in the buggy? You are going to need it where you are going.

What if yer toe nails are "painted up"?

In case some of you might not be aware of what Dan was talking about ...

This is the result after Dan told Romer "I'll do it if you will." Dan's wife Sara does great work, don't ya agree?

I'm surprised that a boat guy would have a cooler setup like that. I figured there would be a built in cooler.

I just found this thread, Ausome truck, soaks up 40" tires and still looks right, a lot of well planned and well executed custom work there,

Raven,
I saw Project-X briefly at Moab and it's better in person. ('cept for the rusted bezel that was upside down.)

Wow. What a beautiful truck. How do you like that 6" lift? I was foolish to avoid subscribing to this thread very early on... when you had dry fit the cab to the 80. After reading through the rest of the 15 page build... I am in awe. Love that you put the 45 on the 80 series. You had inspired me to do this with an LV when first glancing at your thread when it was on page 2.

amazing.

Just saw your rig in 4wdtoyotaowner mag.

Gary when you get a chance could you illaborate a little on the AC lines? They look custom as far as I can tell. I am going backwards, using the 80 series heater / ac etc but a dodge compressor. Either way the 80 series has some funky connectors, they look the same on both the firewall (80 heater) and on the compressor as far as I can tell. Were you able to find these new or did you reuse part of the old lines?

Also do you think anyone swapping this engine in needs to put a radiator elsewhere or was this because of yoour firewall mods? I am triny to pawn off this 1FZ combo I have right now..

I used the Toy compressor with all hand made lines. The manifold on the firewall is streerod stuff to keep things neat. You should be able to re-use all of the 80 series fittings if you are careful with the removal of the lines, then just make up what you need from scratch.
I put the radiator in the rear because the 40 body was not easily modified to allow fitment up front. The mods would change the 45 body lines and on Photoshop it looked terrible. The chassis could have been hacked up and moved around to make it work, but then it wouldn't have been a stock 80.
Get to work, send pics.

The 6 inch lift is awesome. If I had a regular 80, it would be the first mod. It rides great, and works great. The only thing I can offer is not to be chinchy on doing the WHOLE kit, driveshafts, control arms, adjustable arms and all. It gets pricy, but you will end up doing it anyway.

FINALLY got the tailgate on. Not finished completely but its there. Also changed out the front lights after getting too much caca for the late model style. The old do look better now that I see them on the truck. Been wheeling the crap out of it lately. I layed it on its side at ICBM but didn't even touch the body. The tube fenders and steps did there job, not even hardly scratching the paint. Its all fixed already so no pics of the slight carnage. Sorry for the bad pic.
