So this is where I am now, found something interesting...the body was sprayed gray all over, but the entire underside was then painted black, not just the firewall...the red ones I have (including the one just bought ;) are all red underneath...anybody have a gray or white one painted black underneath? Or is just a South American thing? I kinda need to tell the paint guy...

My greenies were green underneath, or rust, or 1/2" of undercoat, the red tub I cut had a red belly too.

Checked the four 25s this last weekend. The grey one is grey not black on the underside of the tub. All three white ones are repainted and mostly black, but you can see where one white paint has been covered up.

Oh My Gosh....:bounce: (Teaser post, gets the pressure of of Nerd and Fox)

Holy crap!!! Nice job on the frame.

I will be watching carefully as you work on the rear quarters. I have to replace mine along with the sil. Probably also have to replace the driver's floor too. Tough finding that panel though.

WHOA.. Friggin sweet!

You have a deadline now ;)

Hey, I thought you were on walkabout?

What color is that Phil? I had no idea you were getting serious about this.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=154114 How can I be on walkabout with a wrecked 80 in the garage and the paint guy telling me the frame is done? Besides, LITP John had me on ignore, I didn't know if he was going to be around for a parts swap or not. Maybe next week...

Color is so darn close to the seats I have, maybe maybe maybe just a RCH less beige, it is supposed to be a Toy color, I'll get the code...these are the battery tray brackets against a section of steel wooled/cleaned seat, the untouched areas aged to a more desert beige...

In an effort to make good on my vow to have a 25 at CM08 I have decided to drag this rascal in from the cold...just make it go and stop, it will not have to pass tech...the engine for the white one is at the machine shop in case this one is bad...so one will be "slow" and the other "stop"

That's a good plan Phil, just getting one running. If I didn't have the one running 25 I would have given up on the whole lot a long time ago. :D

So you've got what, maybe three months? Get going.

It's a 1960 Bugeye, I've had it for (oh my) 20 years or so....

So I got cranking on the red 25 tonight. Engineered some battery cables, gravity fed fuel, and hot wired it. Cold compression numbers before it fired range from 105 to 120. And it did fire! And spit out a nest of some sort, smoke, sputter, die, refire, refire, refire, and in the end.....idle:D

I'll hook up a diect read oil pressure gauge and put some water in it next time I start it. And I noticed the sight glass was upside down, so I wasn't getting the carb quite full enough. The wire harness is a nightmare and will be replaced rather than repaired...and so on...

I hope it doesn't rain during CM08:rolleyes:
