why isn't the valve cover green?

Like your living room Sam. I'm guessing you're not married. Loking good!

thanks Bob. Yup, not married, but living with girlfriend. I bet it all changes once we're married...
You should see my office. Books, guns, swords, and tech everywhere.

You've found a keeper Sam. Does she shoot and wheel?

Not yet. Slowly working on that. Soon enough she'll be doing j-turns while firing out of the window. I think she's slowly realizing that i'm not that crazy, and some of my skills are useful. She doesn't like my teaching methods though. i'm "too intense" and give FULL explanations to questions.

well, as an update. I've been pretty lazy and unmotivated.

The head is surprisingly very flat and well within spec. I think it may have been milled once before.
I hand lapped the valves. That was fun. Reminded me of a caveman trying to start a fire. The results were very good. Now i just need to clean out the grinding compound and start reassembly.

I can tell that my exhaust manifold was off at least once. I found that a PO had snapped off a manifold stud, so i spend an hour extracting said bolt. I'm super sold on Kroil. After spraying that bolt down and using the kroil as a drilling lubricant i barely needed any force with the bolt extractor to twist it out. That flexy magnet came in handy to remove the steel shavings while drilling.

The tire shops at the Costcos say that they have discontinued the BFG KM2 in 33/10.5/15 and my local tire shops must be smoking crack for how much they want to charge for them, $1100 plus tax. Tire rack will be out until 20April. Thinking i might just get the BFG AT KOs instead. I dunno, i've gotten stuck in shallow mud with every AT tire i've had before. All greasy mud though. Maybe the answer is ATs and chains.
Maybe i'll just put some 35s on there if i'm dropping that much coin. No lift, just a fender trim...:flamingo::hillbilly::wrench:

Like bob said in my tire thread. It's a lot of money to not get what you really want. I like the KM2's but they don't com I'd 37's on a 15" rim.

What till April and get the KM2.

yea, that's what i'm thinkin.
i have 4 of them in my shopping cart at 4wheelparts right now. So far their price shipped will be the same or even a bit better than tirerack.

*ordered. woo hoo. now they better have them in stock. $891 shipped to my door.

couple days ago i ordered a Spartan autolocker from Marlin for my 4.88 rear. :D

Going to have to assemble my frankenpack for the rear suspension before i put them on anyway. I could prob only clear 31's with how saggy it is right now.

so now i'm reassembling the 4runner parts and i wish i had taken the time to label everything. I haven't even figured out where all of the gaskets in my kits go.

looks like that'll be on hold for a little bit. i'm playing Resident Family Mechanic today on sis's Corolla.

Makes me feel like i've done something.
22R, 22RE, 22RTE Vacuum Diagrams - Pirate4x4.Com

above link for reference where all the vacuum lines and whatnot belong.

Thanks Tracy.
Yea, i saw some pics on Yotatech that looked pretty good.
I was going to paint EVERYTHING, then decided against it.
I think it looks way better than the aluminum oxide that comes stock.

When i get it running i'm gonna order some TG sliders. Want to help me weld them on?

Have you checked prices at treaddepot.com?

I hadn't. Didn't know about them. Their prices are a bit better. They only have 3 of the bfg km2 in 33/10.50/15.
would have saved me a hundred bucks if they had 4tires.
they want $178 v the $210

I could cancel my order and just wait...
