Devilmans Hand,

Nosing around in here and noticed your thread. I had a 1989 pickup that my son used to drive around when he was at George Mason. I had purchased a timing chain kit for it "just in case"......It ended up running until the body fell apart and I didn't use the kit. It is yours for "FREE" if you'll reimburse me for shipping. It is a kit from ENGNBLDR.COM Engine Parts Network and it is kit # TKS900SR with the steel rail. It's been sitting in my garage for the last 5 years or so. No good to me, I'd be happy to wipe the mouse s*** off of the box and send it your way. Good Karma.......I plan on meeting some of you guys when and if my wife would just get a job down in your area. We are currently waiting to hear from University of Mary Washington and keeping our fingers crossed. Let me know if you want the kit....I can take pictures if you'd like.

I also printed this DIY up for future reference many years ago, the link might help you out:

22R/RE/REC/RET Timing Chain Replacement Instructions

Sweet. I'll def take the kit off your hands. I was just about to order the exact kit today.
I'm also at Mason. Patriots!

Pretty awesome of you. Paypal work for you? I can send it whenever you're ready.
:beer::cheers:

Sam

I'll pm you my address

Sam, package is on the way via USPS....my brother is a postmaster and I try to keep his behind in a job. Never mind about the shipping, keeping my fingers crossed that my wife gets a job down there soon and I'll be driving my 40 down and will hook up with the CLCC. You can buy me a beer or two at a meeting sometime. Good luck with the repairs !

Sweet. Thank you sir.

well, I got the valve cover off today. Looks like the engine currently has plastic guides for the timing chain and they look pretty intact. I don't feel any slack in the chain either. I'm guessing that there is at least 100k on this chain b/c the PO didn't mention any timing chain replacement when he had the vehicle.

Anyone know where to buy Kroil somewhere around Fairfax? My exhaust bolts are soaking in PB blaster, but i think Kroil might make my life easier.

McLean hardware carries it.

You can orer online from Kano Labs. They almost always have a special promotion running.

Ya, ask Bart how he knows

yea, i was thinking that too.
Bart is the resident Headgasket expert and general cooling system man.

I'm just trying to not snap off anymore important bolts. In fact, most of my major fubars stem from a snapped bolt. Lube!

Kroil is the $h1T !!!

anyone have a miracle cleaner to dissolve intake manifold nastiness? I'm thinking about pouring some carb-dip in there and sloshing it around every now and then.

PBR ??
