Just got reaquainted with the beginning of your post-soo great! I am a picture kinda guy and those of your roof work were really great. I am hoping to get started on my roof sometime soon and those really help to get and idea of what I will need to do. Those gutters are killer.
Thanks

nice, can't wait to see the progress..

Thanks Bob! I've seen your work, it is exceptional.

Photos for the days work...

Inner quarter panel/floor pan drop.

And the lower quarter panel wrap -under. Went with a flange/rosette weld since the existing panel was so badly warped, the seam helped hold it a little straighter. The smaller upper piece tying into the wheel well was not planned, but guess what? Found more rust the other day...so....yeah...

great job, I know the problems you have to face with warpage. Ill do my roof sides for the 3rd time as I am not happy with welds and warpage. No satisfaction and I try, and I try.
I noticed you weld near the rubbers, did you protect them?

Which rubber are you referring to? The seam sealer or the tires? I usually don't bother if I am sure the metal is clean both sides, and that splatter is going to be minimal. Although sometimes, with the vintage steel, it just can't be perfect, so if I get welding splatter, I will throw a welding blanket, (or more likely one of my old leather jackets) over anything that needs protection.

I was talking about tire rebuilt yet my DS rear rocker and fender flare, Iguess you removed the sealer . I repaired it a completely different way than you. I build a solid piece including rocker, back of the rocker and fender lip, adjusted then welded. my way was less OEM style.

Painters. Ugh. I am THIS close to giving up the search, and gearing up to paint myself. Ugh. Already ordered a couple new body hammers....ugh...painters :deadhorse:

I did stop wallowing in frustration long enough to fab the lower rear right drop brace...and work a couple more tack welds down the side...

i can get the number of a couple of painters that used to work in our body shop and went out on their own. even tho we have a painter and a booth, our b.s. mgr still sends them some business and he has said he would put them against any painter in the state.

That would be great!

Any updates?

Still looking for a good painter in my price range, which will probably need to be revised. Oh how I wish Clarence wouldn't have quit the business... I would be driving it back home now. And able to finish the movie! Not to mention loving these gas prices!

BUT the important thing is we are over the bodywork hurdle. That is HUGE. Jason Brownhill. I know I've said this before, but looking over this thread, he has performed miracles.

And speaking of counting blessings and appreciation... Happy Thanksgiving to all.

That would be great!
