Is it not coming back, after paint, for the rebuild?

Oh, yea, it will be coming back. Probably 2-3 months, which should give me time to get all the little parts ready to go back on.

And yes TJ, finally got a painter. Talked to so many guys, didn't want to jinx it by saying anything online, so waited to announce it until it was actually on the trailer.

I know where those rear corners and the roof came from! And am painfully familiar with the old "2-3 months" routine after doing both my Pig and lately my 914-6. Hope your calendar expectations are met.

quick update....I have finally finished welding. So many patches....so many....It is now left to Tommy and Ryan to smooth it out. The interior is already in primer, so it is moving right along. (helps that I go in once a week to check on things/weld/sand)

Jim- The corners are just a couple days away from being without the old Frankencruiser blue....the roof is already down to bare metal...and what is this about a 914-6? Kinda rare with the 6, no? I always liked those, look like a blast to drive.

The old blue and white Frankencruiser gave its all for a couple of nifty projects. I even adopted the name for my Pig, which includes Frank's chassis and drivetrain.
The 914-6 is a very cool ride and one of less than 3,400 ever made. We bought it brand new, used it everyday for seven or eight years and then it was relegated to weekends and track time. It sat in the garage for about a dozen years before we fired it back up and began a panels off restoration after finishing up the Pig. It's turned into a pretty valuable vehicle but will not be a garage queen. Bucket list is to drive it to all four corners of the continental U.S. while we can still get in and out of it without assistance. If I spent a full day, maybe a weekend at most, buttoning up interior and trim reassembly it'd be ready to go.
We still need to plan an appropriate sendoff when Elyse comes out to retrieve her Pig from you.
Onward....

Elyse is here this weekend, the movie star is in primer. Maybe we can convince her to post up a couple "beauty shots"?

Go figure! Elyse is in CO and we're out in SoCal (Ocean Beach) awaiting the birth of our first grandchild.

Jim we saw a Porsche like yours there - SWEET. Jason said "There's Jim's car" and I thought he meant you were too, but no. You were busy doing something infinitely more amazing. Congratulations!

TJ's pig Javelina KILLED the competition there. Longing looks and dropped jaws galore. TJ I am shortly convo'ing you.

Fantastic shoot this time around and I can't wait til the next one. Nothing could prepare me for Classic Cruisers in Salida. I got some nice footage of the pig pen there but Ill be going back for more and to interview Glen and Meryl. Great guys both.

Since I shot a LOT of footage I have my hands and arms and hard drives full organizing and editing, but everything is in 4k resolution so I should be able to pull some nice stills. Seeing my piggie in all its grey primer'ed smoothness I'm embarrassed to say that I kinda lost it, but pulled myself together and spent several wonderful hours getting gorgeous closeups of every previously corroded area.

I have guarded my expectations so carefully on this project. Still am, but we are getting closer. Thanks to Jason Brownhill, Super Genius.

Thanks Elyse, that was fun to wash the dust off the Pig and emerge into Spring after all the rain we have had.

I bet seeing your Piggy in primer was amazing! Wait until he blows the first color on! That to me was incredible. Remember the part of Wizard of Oz when it went from B&W to color???

I visited the Moviestar today. Paint is coming along. Rear right corner was re-worked, and now looks as good as the rear right. I spent 3 hours sanding the vent window frames, which I sandblasted 2 weeks ago, because they have glazed over with rust. What the hell, Colorado? 75% humidity? Rain everyday? This is not good for Japanese steel! Global warming, climate change......it is real.....I have the proof.........

Good stuff! PS: I finally found Brownhill Restoration on Facebook.

The Mstar is still being prepped for paint - oh Jim you were so right. And in this case it's cheap-good-fast, pick ONE. But things are coming along with quality as a priority, which is as it should be. Seeing all of Jason's work get smoothed over like an airbrushed supermodel makes it reeeeally easy to forget the agony that went into it. But uh, no. We won't forget.

Meanwhile what I did forget is to pull some stills. Hopefully I can ask for a little more patience and understanding. So swamped here (see second sentence above).

BUT when I saw this today on the front page of the Paypal site I could not resist.

(Clearly the Paypal marketing department understands that the car makes the hipsters, not the other way around.)

I won't be doing this on my pig anytime soon but before it came to Jason I enjoyed standing on the roof from time to time.

If the condition of your pig is appropriate, I highly recommend it.

Having seen the condition your roof was in while helping move it into Jason's garage when returned from the sandblasters, you are one very lucky lady. Wouldn't have been surprised to see at least one foot on top of the steering wheel or front seat!
