I cant talk I have a mouth full of oil. lol. It burped a little, but wasnt bad.

Seriously though, I wanted to mount it upside down, but I cant find room anywhere that I feel it would be safe. I've taken up all the realestate I can within the engine compartment with dual battery trays, evap purge tank, ps res, washer tank. Its crazy how fast the room shrinks.

Worst case, is that I pull the mount off when I do the change, that way the filter is right next to the pan when I spin it off.

What if you just turned it where it's at now 90degrees more? Besides, now your frame's rust proofed for a bit.

Grab a piece of some rubber fuel line, slice it and zip tie it to the lines to keep the rub down.

Yea I put some neoprene around the AN lines and zip ties between them to keep them separate. I was worried about mounting it 90deg or 180deg for fear of being punctured easier.

The past year was rough and i've not made as much progress as I wanted. I lost one of my closest friends in a tragic accident on memorial day and its been slow ever since.
I'll dedicate the next few project updates to him since he loved helping and reading the updates.

Back in October I was able to start working on a rear bumper, which remains incomplete. And just started my dual battery install. Next up, full M12,000 winch rebuild. And aisin lockout hubs to see what kind of MPG improvement I can get.

The rear bumper started with months of looking thru photos and this is what I came up with - Dozens of mocked up cardboard bumpers

This is the one that slightly edged out the rest

$110.00 in 2"x6" box tube later, this is what I started

The base of bumper. Ill attach d-ring mounts to the rear and notch for a hitch in the center.

The welds, which are looking better... I think. Though the steel should have been cleaned more first.

I suck at cutting angles with my torch and I dont have a plasma...yet.
So I use my angle grinder and chop saw for everything.

Skipping ahead a few steps, filling in the gaps and grinding smooth

Mocking up the next step with cardboard, for steel that I dont yet have.

My buddy Eric bought me a pair of these heavy duty spindles for my swing outs that ill be building.

Like I mentioned above, some more updates coming very soon hopefully.

I also just built a really clean white 5VZ powered 90' 4runner that I was going to use as a DD last month, but decided I wanted something nicer so I made it a december to remember and now I need to sell the 4skinner

Great thread...just read through the entire thing. I think a V-8 swap is one of the single greatest mods there is... whille it can be aggrivating and time consuming, the fun factor is off the charts.

Good morning fellas - Got a few updates for you.
I havent driven the rig since January when it snowed last. Its just got too damn expensive.
But...
1. the M12000 rebuild complete, installed and wired up
2. the dual batteries are installed and complete. The switch is a rear heater switch and the led's are hooked up so green is dual charge and yellow is isolate.
3. added some sweet little led voltage gauges to monitor the charge rates. I have them wired to a pair of relays so isolate the gauges and so the negative ground can be turned off when the key is out so I dont drain the battery when the rig isnt driven for long periods of time.

Here are some photos, wish I would have taken more during assembly of the winch. It was greasy as fawk and the ball bearings were a whore. Ill get some more photos of the dual battery wiring, thought I had more on my laptop this morning. I used marine/military connectors with some nice flexy 0 gauge that I had laying around from my stereo days.

Here's the dual batt tray installed.

I purchased some LED gauges that plug into the cig lighter for like 5$ shipped from fleebay and gutted them.

Next I took a coin tray and cut it apart to use the face

Sand it smooth

Next get a piece of tinted plexi so the gauges arent too bright and you dont see the glare when thier not on

Cut off a small section with the scribe tool

I used permatex "right stuff" to seal the plexi to the gauge

Then test fit the gauges behind the dash bezel where they'll flank the switch

Wish the trim was the same color as the dash but honestly i've grown to like it
