Pretty quiet in here... what are you working on?

Replaced both cam phasers on 2009 corolla to follow the new timing chain tensioner. Also replaced VVTI oil control gaskets. Some engineer at toyota had a sense of humor, as the gaskets are prominently visible here. Kind of like some of their water pumps. Smooth other than goofing around with electrical tape and compressed air for an hour to unlock the cam phasers, which came locked and are supposed to be torqued to the camshafts while unlocked.

Good news- everything runs OK. Also fixed the persistent cold start rattle (old intake phaser was a part number replaced under TSB)

Bad news- Didn't fix my spark knock problem. Starts and runs a bit better, but underlying problem still present.

Still no codes.

i wanna see the inside of that trans
Andrew is getting saucy, lol! I figured that we would have time to take a peek when y'all come over to help me stab the tranny back in. Late February probably.

Toyota but it’s for a 100 not an 80
@iptman here are some close ups of the 100 seal. Maybe it could be made to work. I’m sure others have tried to find a suitable fix though.

I still have the old seal. Let me know if you’d want it to take a look at it.

Put some new skins on the 4Runner....the newest Falken Wildpeak AT4's, replacing my already upsized (with the same size) BFG AT's.

285x70x17's in C load. Also had them install the Dobinson's UCR's that I picked up when I got my truck in anticipation of the new rubber at some point. They have 555 joints and are fixed with a 3% camber correction for the lift. My alignment tech was able to get it dialed back in to factory specs with these....so far, so good on drivability and noise, but the true test should come on Sunday!

WARNING: Geeky stuff to follow. :geek:
My Dometic fridge plugs into the cigarette socket in the back of the 4R when we go on a road trip. Since the cig socket is only powered when the ignition key is on, when we stop somewhere I have to unplug the fridge from the 4R's socket and plug it into my Jackery Portable (Aux) Power box to keep the fridge running while the 4R is parked. And then reverse the process when we hit the road again. Truth: I do have a bypass switch to keep the 4R's cig socket powered when the ignition key is off, but if we are parked for a long time, I would prefer that the fridge drains the Jackery battery rather than the one under the hood.

So, to eliminate the exhausting, time consuming and annoying process of plugging and unplugging the fridge I came up with a simple circuit to do the switching automatically.

A simple DPDT (Double Pole Double Throw) 12 volt relay is all it takes. When the ignition key is off, the fridge is powered by the aux (Jackery) battery. When the ignition key is on (4R's cig socket powered) the relay is energized and the 4R powers the fridge.

Here is the circuit:

Here is the box I made:

Finished project:
One cig plug goes to the 4R's cig socket (IGN) and the other one goes to the Jackery (AUX) power box.
The Anderson connector on the side of the box is for the fridge, I made an adapter to go from the Anderson connector to a cig socket. I also have a power cord for the fridge with and Anderson connector (best of both worlds). So when the box is in use I will switch the fridge's power cord to the one with the Anderson connector. I like Andersons more the cig plugs.

Hope this is helpful and not to geeky.
did you consider plugging the fridge into the Jackery, and the Jackery into the truck battery? so when the truck is off, the fridge always runs on the aux batt, but when the truck is on both the fridge is on and the aux batt is charging?

i like your solution too. fun with relays!

The old 2370 putting in some work this morning . Got my wife to Reston Hospital for her shift last night without incident, though ATs will be going in the Tacoma ASAP. The HT stock tires were relatively drama free but nothing like the tires on the old 1st gen I gave to my brother. Man…. Tires everywhere! The 40, the taco! This will be an all day affair here.

Yep 👍. Absolutely. For quick trips, that’s what I do. Works great.

When the truck’s battery/alternator is powering the Jackery and the fridge is running off of the Jackery, the power into the Jackery is charging the Jackery’s battery and powering the fridge. So power into the Jackery is being split between the two functions. This may cause it to take longer to recharge the Jackery’s battery depending upon how much the fridge is running.
With the relay, when the engine is running (truck’s OEM cig socket powered) the relay is activated and the fridge is running off of the truck’s battery - no load on the Jackery. So, all of the power going into the Jackery is used to recharge the Jackery’s battery, hopefully reducing the recharge time.

Full disclosure: Yes, this relay box does confirm my Techno-Nerd-Geek behavior 🤓

Yup, my Kioti definitely put in more work today than my Ariens. The top 3 inches of the 8 that fell here was like concrete. And the snow/sleet pushed off the road was crazy dense and heavy. I could have made some sweet moola today just digging out the first 5 feet of people's driveways. Unfortunately I had to do my day job so I only did my driveway and my old two of my timer neighbors'.

100%. I did my neighbors and they brought be 50 bucks and cookies. Then I went to help this other family but my front right tire became unseated. I have had trouble with that thing for a few years. It just doesn’t hold well. Plugged also. New wheel and tire going on that as well 🤣.

I have to get my utility trailer unburied today somehow as my wife wants to start on our 1/2 bath renovation. I will be doing some tractoring as well.

Also, I’m going to start a private YouTube channel or a comments off one or something for the 40. Just for help, documentation etc…. I’ll try to get the inaugural video posted in the next few days. It will be guerrilla style filming haha. Nothing fancy.

Spent just over 2 hours starting at noon in the "waiting room" along with @imperium to get registered for Cruise Moab! @TTViper here we come! I was considering shipping the cruiser out to my friend's place in Salida (about 5.5 hours east of Moab), but most likely going to caravan out with imperium and road trip it instead of running it alone.

Also just got in the rest of my extrusions/hardware today to finish up my rear drawer/platform setup...may be working on that tomorrow inside the house next to the fireplace...I was in Orlando yesterday in the swimming pool (down for a business/software conference), but back to the icy mid atlantic this a.m. travel plans revolved around the Moab registration day and glad that I was home just in time to cue up on the desktop instead of the phone on wifi on the plane!

And yes, I did get a little sun color from only a couple of hours outside...tiny window of opportunity as it's been chilly there too except for 1 day and they go back to freezing overnight temps tomorrow.

Flywheel resurfaced, working on repairing broken wires in transmission harness, and yesterday Fred (@DC470) helped me disassemble the transfer case.

In the H55, the end of the counter shaft snapped clean.

Making progress. Had to order some extra gaskets, the front case oiler got wacked by the broken end of the counter shaft snapped, and the tach sensor wires gave up on removal.
