Power subwoofer in 80 series... Under seat ---- Has anyone installed one?

Added a Focal unit recently, it has the right height (~2.5") to be sandwiched between the seat rails and the carpet. Some velcro tape on top and bottom to protect and insulate it, doesn't move anywhere. While this one is more expensive the nice thing about it is it also has an integrated 2 channel amp to power the front, saves you from having to add another amp to take advantage of upgraded door speakers.

dang that's a nice unit. So, you ran two more pairs to the front door speakers from this sub? I'm assuming you ran the wires through the ducting that is used to route the current door speaker wires in the door jamb? Great choice of music, and I'm sure it just rocks the cab. What brand are the door speakers? Did you add any more speakers in the factory knee panel positions or tweeters up at the A pillars? I really need to upgrade my sound system and need to add a sub under the pass front speaker which is now empty.

My '97 Lexus LX450 had a non-working CD changer on the floor in the base of the center console. I pulled it out and replaced it with a Pioneer powered subwoofer. Fits perfectly. I don't know if that same space exists in a Land Cruiser center console, or if the wiring loom includes the power cable for that CD changer.

That's a cool piece! What kind of door speakers did you pair with it?

Thanks! The sub connects to the head unit with an ISO adapter harness to get the audio and remote signals and also connects to the door speaker wires that way so all it really needs is power supply and the PnP harness from sub to head unit. Front door speakers on mine are Focal as well with Aussie speaker pods and tweeters in the A pillars, no rear speakers. I posted some pics a while ago somewhere in the weekend thread. I guess your upgrade options also depend on the factory setup, if mine had door speakers I would have probably just upgraded those like most people and maybe added a sub.

Thanks for the info, let me look for your thread on the speakers.

That 5speed shifter though 😍

Here's the post: Door squeakers

Unfortunately for us, he's got the cool Aussie style door pods.
oh man, the attention to details is brilliant. I bet they sound awesome. Thank you for the link.

I installed an air compressor where the subwoofer was in the rear quarter panel and then I built my own custom shaped subwoofer cabinet and replaced my center console. I now have great bass as well as cup holders that actually fit my beverages

Running a small JL Audio powered unit but too big to place under a seat. It sits between my fridge and rear slider window. Out of my way but individual needs vary. It does offer good "adult" bass levels.

You can't just drop in here saying all that and not post some pics man.

same as jeremy above, I would love to see any pics you have of this, or the pioneer part number if you’re able to dig that up

I see you sold the LX, so no worries if you don’t have any

I just installed a subwoofer from Crutchfield and it's their house brand called Sound Ordinance. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_777B8PTD/Sound-Ordnance-B-8PTD.html

This is a decent unit for the money and I placed it under the front pass seat. Looks like I didn't take any pics with the seat removed but here is a shot on the side.

I don't have photos of the compressor - but here's what I did with the center console:
