Just thought I'd post some pics of the hubs I did for Dad and his FJ-40.

Get ready for some used "Superwinch" hubs to be posted. :)

If you could line up a set of hub faces and throw in some fresh stainless bolts, I'll bite! Let me know how much more to send and when I get mine I'll send over my cores.

The bolts I've posted pictures of aren't stainless. They are the original bolts that have been replated. I actually think that they *should* be silver, but everything I plate is yellow, so that's what I put on my cruiser, and what I put on Dad's.

The ones phrogg4ever has should be correct, as I understand it. I'm not sure where he got those (not from me).

So stainless: not from me. I'm not even sure if I've got any more of the yellow zinc bolts to spare now. :) In fact a large part of the discussion here was where to find the reduced head JIS bolts in stainless. They are really elusive.

I got my bolts (with the "7" on them) from a set of NOS hubs from an 80 that I'm fooling around with on a side project. I still have the original bolts that came with my original hubs, and they are all black and cruddy.

Ed, let me know if you still need a set of bolts, they are dirty, but they are the orig and could be cleaned and re-plated easily. I owe ya one back for the fuel lines:grinpimp:

Post 22, the acorn nuts that bolt the hubs down, anyone have a part number for them as the 40 series updates to a nut.

Aside from the bolts, do you have a set of powdercoated hub faces that are / can be ready to be bought? I'm interested in the faces with or without the bolts. I can find bolts easily enough.

I've got the flat face dials powder coated and lettered, but not assembled into the rings. It takes only a couple of minutes to assemble them, as long as I've got O-rings ready to go (you have no idea how many O-rings I've gone through :) ) Here's a pic of the flat face dial and the raised handle style side by side. FWIW--I've only found the raised handle on cruisers so far, but the later style is the flat face, and they seem to me to have better metallurgy and are otherwise the same. The dials on Dad's FJ-40 that I posted here are the flat face versions.

Other than that, folks gotta get in line. You'd be the current #7. :) (that applies to Georg or GLTH, or anyone else for that matter)

Shane: I don't have a P/N for the acorn nuts (or know if they are correct for the 40), but the acorn nuts off of my 1991 IFS trucks' Aisins work perfectly. I'm sure the EPC still shows that part number.

I need to order more O-rings, and hopefully I get the time off to get a bunch more of these done soon.

Damn it Dan!

Now that I have taken the time to read through the post I want them! I will gladly donate to Gene's fund if you let me come up and use your resources to doll mine up :D

GLTHFJ60:

You're now number 8.

Hopefully I get a set or two done tomorrow before I have to head off to the salt mines. :)

The good news though is that I get to come home on the 31st, and then I don't gotta do crap for 7 (count them seven) days. It's going to be Land Cruiser party 2008!!!! (well, hubs and I should put my FF rear back together and hopefully rebuild my front axle too).

Rory: I'll be home the night of Saturday the 31st. Sunday or the whole next week the shop is open to you. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. Did you get the bolt out of your shock yet? We could do that at the same time. :flipoff2:

hey dan.

if you can do desert tan and cobalt blue ( both stock cruiser colors ) then i'd love a pair each. for the troopies.........:grinpimp:

The tan is the same as the gold on the FJ-62s, right? I'm working on matching that one.

Do you have any high quality pics of the blue? I can certainly do what I can to match it.

Dan

not quite. my troopie is the desert sand / tan color and i'd love to have a set of matching hubs on it. the troopie i'm working on for a customer will get painted with factory late 70s cruiser cobalt blue. i'll see if i can look up the paint code for you. we're doing a ton of work to it and having matching hubs on there would make it even sweeter. :bounce:
