Hell that is nothing. Anyone could accomplish what I have done in a weeks time.

Ahem, my FJ40 project has been in the garage for something like 4 years.

i got that topped....anybody seen my 45 on the road yet. heck can anyone see it under the five years of crap that i've piled in/on it

seven cruisers and 3 of em run

The guy that has the FJ55 I'm going to look at has in his stable:

  • FJ55: The one I'm going to look at again.
  • FJ55: Totally dissembled. Restoration seriously stalled.
  • FJ55: Parts truck.
  • FJ40: Parts truck.
  • FJ45: To be restored and become work truck.
  • FJ45: Parts truck, will be used to fix up one above. 1+1=1
  • BJ40 RHD: Runs!
  • FJ40: Beautiful restoration. Runs, wife's 40.
  • FJ60: Runs, his work truck.
  • FJ60: With H55F. Her DD.

That's ten, right? Four run, one can run, the others ... not a chance. That doesn't include his garage and pump house full of parts. This guy is real sick (in a good way). :grinpimp:

rescue the piggy; drive it and restore it as you drive it...........my 0.02..........worked for me:D
lots a pigs die when they are totally dissasembled for ground up restore and the owners run out of funds or are overwhelmed by the pieces!or loose interest!.......when you have the time and cash it is nice.......... I have to drive mine and repair it as I go:steer: not the way to get a showpiece but then I arn't interested in no show piece, I would look out of place in it <hehehehe>

I'll pipe in, too: Buy it! Mine has also been a work in progress for going on 8 years, it has JUST NOW become a daily driver, but it still needs lots of love. Do any of you guys turn back to look at it when you park it at work and walk away? Do you ever just sit in it and look around, and catalogue all the things you NEED to do, and then the things you WANT to do? Do people turn their heads and look at it as they pass you on the highway? You guys in the West probably don't get that satisfaction, because people are used to looking at old, cool trucks. But here on the Least coast, my heart swells everytime someone gives me a thumbs-up, and I always tell my wife about it (she still considers it an ugly beast, yes, it is!).

Sorry for the off-tech talk, I got carried away...

All the time!!! Even here in Central America!!!

I feel the same exact way- well said.

OINK! OINK!

Today was the moment of truth and I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. This piggy was rougher than I remember. I'm still in love, but I had to walk away. Also, it was a May 1971, not a 1973 as originally told.

Looks like David L's old pig; if it is then it is a nice restorable pig and came with an original AC along with a PTO that I see was removed and was the only reason the 2nd guy bought it; I think he made a mistake 'cause as Cruiser_Guy noted; the set up for the PTO is very different for a fj40....if so it is a shame it has been removed........if it is the same one this pig has a very nice history and came out of South East Asia......very worthwhile project, worthy of a serious rescue:hhmm:

That doesn't look too bad at all for a piggy! Just contrast that with what mine looked like when we got it then you'll know what bad looks like! You've got rockers, lights, the front fenders are certainly not terrible for a piggy, heck I'd bet you don't fall though the floor when you get in either! I'd have been happier with that one than mine as a starting point.
