Nice table! I have that same compressor and it works great, though I didn't opt for the Teddy Bear upgrade....

Alf, you are the winner! I've been posting pictures with Warren in them for 6 years on about 5 forums and you are the first to ever notice him. He was given to me in 1995 to take to work with me to keep me company when I was away for months at a time. It kinda stuck and he has never missed a day of work with me since. He's been to 8 countries and traveled over 1M miles in vehicles over those years as well.

It may be strange to some, but IDC... I'm a big guy and I can take it.

I'm thinking others might have been afraid to say something!!

Ha, Well that's possible if you've ever met me in person or ever seen me pissed off.. But, Andrea says it fits.... She says I'm just a big teddy bear anyway...

oooh I got some projects for that cnc table once the router gets set up! I am THIS CLOSE to getting the OK to build one for work...Welcome to the neighborhood!

are you going to start reproducing body panels with the press break?

I looked at building and the costs and time didn't make sense to build one. Plus this one is 99% complete when delivered. I'd say to get it finished up (plug n play wiring and the remaining grates, slats & water) I need about 2-3 hours. This table weighs 3350# as pictured.

When the truck doors swung open yesterday about 15 guys came out from various businesses. Took 15 minutes to unload and another 3 hours to satisfy all the curiosities and meeting new people.

A lot of good people around me. A guy two doors down that rents some space in another shop has a 4 x 8 router table. He builds custom PA and concert speaker systems for event centers etc. His first remark was "I hope I'm not too loud..." I laughed and said I'm pretty load myself. He took me in and showed me around his little area and WOW he is LOUD!!!! The one cabinet had 48 speakers and 8000 watts. He has 4 of them to build for a metal rock band show coming to Sacramento. So all is cool!

Another has a CNC machine shop so we are already talking about some things back and forth there..

Plumbers, electricians, one CAD/drafting company, and a few others. Greatest thing that came out of the talks yesterday was 3 of the guys have been in the area for 20+ years in the same shops and they do not know of one single theft. Hopefully that stays the same...

I have some experience with homebrew plasma tables... basically avoid it.

I have some experience with homebrew plasma tables... basically avoid it.

There are some decent DIY gantry kits (Precision Plasma. LLC) I've seen these and they will do a good job for signs and art type cutting, but very light duty with hit or miss accuracy. The main issue with a router table is the torque the router puts out will strain the gantry and z-axis causing cutting and tooling failure issues. For a plasma its not as big of an issue, but they tend to be quite a bit sloppier cut than what an industrial table will produce.

I opted for a 3.5 HP router over what most supply at 1-2HP. I won't use the router much at all, but wanted the larger output for the table for hardwoods, Delrin/ABS and aluminum routing, milling and engraving purposes.

Been a busy past few days with the first round of moving and the new additions to the shop.

Plasma table and 80 gallon 2 stage compressor arrived today. Should have the table all dialed in and ready to burn by the next trip out in a couple of weeks.

At this rate you'll soon be getting into the realm of water jet cutting :-). In a past life, the in-house shop that fabricated large structural steel assemblies for our field experiments routinely used a water jet cutting machine to cut 4" thick plates of HSLA steel. I visited the shop soon after the machine was delivered. The factory rep was there to ensure everything was working properly after installation. He mentioned that identical machines were used by Sara Lee to cut their cakes before packaging, frosting and all.

A little side trip on the way back to Wyoming. Lassen National Park.

On an ACTUAL POPPY and other rigs UPDATE...

My new powdercoater is a high end restoration paint and body company as well. You guys would have drooled to see a 69 Camaro Pro Street with a blown 427 and 5 speed, gun metal grey that looked like you could have reached into the paint. So, Poppy will be going to see them once I get my new jigs for the new front and rear bumpers set up.

After that all the chrome-- wheels and bumpers will be headed to a classic car re-chrome company for restoration.

Once all that is done... I think she will go into the warehouse and I'll finally get started on either Samson or Delilah as time allows.

****Samson will be a full frame swap and 2uz-fe-sc and 4 speed auto, 37s, 4:88s and 4" lift.
****Delilah will be a 2FE and 5spd, 33s, 4.11s, and 2" lift.

But there is the '86 rig that I want to be my R&D build for the 3URFE 5.7 and 6 speed.

Too many choices...................
