i cut and bent up some wire mesh and welded it into the rear to cap that area.

the underbed space is nice- lotsa room for jerrys and recovery gear, shovels, campign chairs , awning etc.

How you gonna license this thing in California then? I thought DMV went by frame VIN numbers, so for legal purposes this is still an FZJ80.

There are a few Counties in California which have certain zip codes that dont require smog...

after a bit of hemming and hawwing on position / angle of the pipes - i decided on this : downward firing at about 45deg. angle. Height is above frame bottom by an inch or two.....and it resides inside width of wheels outer edge.
