Self-contained spare parts cache for the trail...hell, maybe Doomer will even quit tempting fate and start carrying a spare tire!I've been looking forward to this AND the pop up roof tent.![]()
Ya, the pop top. I am really in a bind with that. The redneck trailer is donating its roof to the Doomer. The rust is so bad and I can see it growing before my eyes. That transplant is scheduled for after the pig party. But my dilemma is such: I am not sure if I am ready to go through with the pop top because it will be a long term project. But my roof is defiantly ready for some stable steel. If I put on the roof this year in it's stock form for now and do the pop top later. I feel like I am wasting a good roof. My pop top design replaces the entire roof skin. I could maybe redesign it to incorporate the stock skin and maybe not feel as bad. Just not sure about it.I've been looking forward to this AND the pop up roof tent.![]()
The trailer frame is being designed to hold a 35" tire where the gas take would be. Maybe even another spare in the front of the trailer. That is being mulled over.Self-contained spare parts cache for the trail...hell, maybe Doomer will even quit tempting fate and start carrying a spare tire!
Where are you going to get the pop top from? I have a 55 and would be interrested in a one as well. Thanks!Ya, the pop top. I am really in a bind with that. I'll be watching that build tread for sure!!!Megadoomer Industries. I have a rough design on how I want it to work. I want a few tricky options that I dont think the camper companies are doing. Plus those conversions look really pricy. So why not do it myself for 3x the cost?
Just needs to add a few gussets and you will be good.View attachment 3250459
What do you think your tongue weight will be with these two unions?
Yup. When I bought it from Don, I put it on a uhaul trailer to get it home. Only used put it on a hitch to get it into it's resting place. Those welds are the reason its call the Redneck Trailer.that is why I never towed it
Anyone have more pics of this one or some of a pop up 55? I would love to see the inside! Thanks!!Where are you going to get the pop top from? I have a 55 and would be interrested in a one as well. Thanks!
I think Trakka Australia makes a pop top for a 55
