Looks like a great place. An hour on dirt? It's no wonder you were alone I guess. Nice pics too Dave. I put my name on the list of objectors to the governators plan.

Keep those coming, I hope one day I can tag along on one.

Dan.

Wow! That beats a nice day in LA for sure.
Second on the great pics!

Damn Dave. That looks like another amazing trip.

I wish I could get out there and explore half as much as you do. You're a fortunate man!

Kind of hard to find, but not really. Take Picacho Rd. north from Winterhaven, CA off highway 8 about 26 miles and you'll find the main entrance. OR you can take Indian Pass Road from Ogilby Road (S-34) north of highway 8 and head east about 20 miles. Both are sort of long.. but not too bad. Both are dirt and both are remote. Bring water, fuel and spare tire. I did 40mph in some sections of washboard towing the trailer :D I dont recommend taking a large trailer through either of them. Some spots can be a little tight and off camber.

Man, that looks like a really cool spot, nice write up

No people really around. 2 guys showed up one night and camped out in mummy bags, but that was about it. I talked to them and they said , we were the only people they've ever camped with out there. They said , they usually have the whole beach to themselves. We had BLM come by one time and some tourists come by another time, just to sightsee, but that was about it. Pretty nice.

There are 4 campsites with 4 bbq's, 4 patio covers and 4 fire pits. There are 3 solar bathrooms. There is also another 2 campsites about 8 miles north of this spot with room for maybe 2 rigs per site, but its in the brush on the edge of the water vs. a beach. Also, there's the main camp, about 10 miles south of us which isn't close to the beach(but does have a boat launch) and that has solar showers/bathrooms also.

That trip looks incredible. I love the pic of Yosh and Dixie kicking it by the shore. All those pics of Dixie remind me of Tillie, funny how the same breed has so many character traits the same.
